Polycarbonate Sheets Can Handle Extreme Weather

Some choices are easy when it comes to building materials. You are looking for materials that are strong, durable, and functional. Esthetic choices are not quite so cut-and-dried, but nevertheless, you want something that’s attractive.

It’s obvious that strength needs to be a component of building material because the structure has to be able to withstand the relentless power of the natural elements. Polycarbonate sheets offer you the variety of options that provides strength, durability, and functionality, with a choice of multiwall or solid format. You’ll get the appearance that you want without sacrificing any quality of performance.

ADVANTAGES OF POLYCARBONATE SHEETS

Polycarbonate’s versatility allows it to offer the appearance of glass for those who are seeking a specific look but want something stronger. Polycarbonate has been hardened so that it’s 200 times stronger than glass, making it capable of withstanding elevated resistance levels.

Yet it’s only half the weight of glass. If you want a building material that looks like glass, solid polycarbonate sheets are a clear, flat sheeting that will oblige. Or, you can choose the multiwall polycarbonate sheets, which are made out of hollow air chambers. Both are equally impressive in strength.

Another plus for using polycarbonate sheets is their flexibility. Even though polycarbonate is so strong, it’s easy to work with and that makes installation fast and simple. There’s little disruption and the ease of the process is a time-saver and a money saver. If you want more evidence of how flexible polycarbonate is, you’ll be impressed to learn that it’s used to make security screens, windshields, farming machinery, and the guard materials in machinery parts.

Polycarbonate Sheets WHY POLYCARBONATE SHEETS ARE THE BETTER CHOICE AGAINST WEATHER

It makes sense that our research and development innovators would work to create a tough, resilient building material that’s strong enough for today’s climate. We’ve all seen the way in which our weather patterns have dramatically changed.

While it was not unusual in the past to have an occasional hotter-than-usual summer, we’ve arrived at a time when record-breaking heat seems to be an annual occurrence. Previous years have seen devastating hurricanes, but now they seem to strike with alarming regularity, wreaking havoc and costing billions as communities seek to repair the damage.

We’re warned in advance that a powerful winter storm is on the way, crossing miles of land and leaving downed power lines and stranded cars in its wake as residents shovel their way out of the snowfall.

As extreme weather becomes the unwelcome guest in our lives, we rely upon our buildings to keep us safe, dry, and comfortable. That’s one of the numerous ways in which polycarbonate rises above the other products. Its strength and flexibility make it the barrier against the weather.

Danpal has taken our commitment to protect buildings from weather a step further with our Ventilated Raincreen System, which is made with polycarbonate. Even when wet weather is raging outside, insulation inside remains dry.

Weather isn’t going to go away. Polycarbonate sheets are here to provide us with a defense against those times when Mother Nature seems to be on the warpath.

Polycarbonate Roofs Offer Superior Strength

Polycarbonate, a building material which is both impressive in strength and light in weight, continues to grow in popularity. It’s strong and durable, and able to resist the forces of nature, but at the same time, it’s easy to work with. With a material like this, the possibilities are almost endless, so it’s no wonder that polycarbonate roofs are showing up more and more often on buildings. Polycarbonate roofing actually was first used on conservatories but has become increasingly popular for commercial structures.

THE TYPES OF POLYCARBONATE ROOF

You’ve likely already seen one kind of polycarbonate roof if you’ve driven by a conservatory. The panels look like glass and can be either transparent or translucent. Because of the strength and versatility of polycarbonate, it’s showing up in roofing on greenhouses, sun porches, solariums, and patio rooms. These structures would not be able to support a heavy roof, so polycarbonate is ideal. Also, a polycarbonate roof is less expensive than glass, which presents a financial advantage as well.

POLYCARBONATE ROOFPOLYCARBONATE ROOFING AND WEATHER RESISTANCE

Weather is a factor when choosing the roofing that’s best suited for your region, so it’s fortunate that you can choose polycarbonate roofing without sacrificing any of the qualities that you would expect from traditional roofing.

Polycarbonate roofing meets the most demanding quality standards: it’s able to withstand a wide range of temperatures; it’s shatterproof; it’s flexible; it’s durable; and it’s lightweight. If you live anywhere where there’s weather, polycarbonate roofing is ideal for you!

With its high impact resistance, polycarbonate roofing has the advantage over glass if you live in a region of the world where heavy snowfall or hailstorms are common, because it’s not likely to break or crack.

Polycarbonate roofs come in different colors, but if you’re worried that the colors will fade after constant exposure to the sun, rest assured that the panels do not readily fade and are able to maintain the attractive appearance of the roof.

INSULATING QUALITIES OF POLYCARBONATE ROOFING

Polycarbonate roofing, which is installed either as a either single or double layer, provides added insulation for the building. A greenhouse may use only a single layer, while a business or home is likely to use multiple layers. There is air between the layers which provides insulation to reduce the loss of heat. Polycarbonate roofing keeps out harmful UV rays that we don’t want, while letting in the natural light that we do want. Protecting the insulation is one of the ways that polycarbonate roofing helps your heating and cooling systems maintain a steady temperature inside throughout the year.

LONGEVITY OF A POLYCARBONATE ROOF

Danpal is proud to offer building materials that are designed to last a long time and that’s the case with polycarbonate roofing. Although polycarbonate is a comparatively new building material, it has shown itself to be a product that withstands the test of time. We’re confident that polycarbonate roofs will become even more popular as more people discover the remarkable performance of this innovative material.

Welsh National Sailing Academy. Land, sea and sky.

Situated on an exposed North Wales peninsula between the Irish Sea and the Afon Erch river estuary, the stunning Welsh National Sailing Academy building is both an international centre of excellence for sailing and a multi-purpose event space for the local community.

Working with the Sailing Academy and the Gwynydd County Council, Ellis Williams Architects of Liverpool based the building’s unique design on the classic principle of ‘form following function’.

A unique spiral building design is centered on a large circular main hall, enabling fully rigged boats to be towed in and out with ease while being protected from the location’s strong coastal winds. Curved public terraces overlooking sailing competitions in the bay are situated to the more sheltered north western side, with a glazed café area offering stunning panoramic views of both the bay and the Snowdonia National Park beyond.

Pwllheli-Wesl-National-Sailing-AcademyOn the opposite side, a bar and terrace looks out towards the marina and estuary. A critical design criteria for the project was to maximize the amount of natural daylight entering the circular hall to assist in the preparation of sailing boats and their close scrutinizing by competition judges. To meet this requirement, Ellis Williams specified Danpalon® translucent polycarbonate panel cladding system for both the curved hall façade and the round hall roof.

To harmonize with the project’s extensive use of natural stone gabions, sea grass banking and treated softwood building materials clear (uncoloured) Danpalon® panels were selected and pre-treated with Softlite coating to limit light glare and achieve a subtle matt finish.

The translucent panels also enabled a variety of attractive night time building illumination effects to be achieved using energy-efficient coloured LED lighting, while its excellent thermal properties mean the central hall is able to function as an unheated event space.

With its unique and stunning aesthetic appearance, the Welsh National Sailing Academy has won a series of national architecture prizes including the RIBA Regional, LABC, ICE and CEW awards.

Polycarbonate sheets: strong enought for today’s extreme weather

Doesn’t it seem as though, every time we turn on the news, we’re hearing about a new threat from the weather? If it’s not violent storms that subject an area to torrential downpours, it’s a terrible snowfall that has the power to paralyze a region. Sometimes it feels as though we’re entirely powerless against the fury of weather. Fortunately, Danpal has designed and manufactured products that can stand up to weather at its wildest. Our status as a leader in the building industry is a result of the emphasis that we place upon innovation, research, and development in creating materials that are stronger than weather. Polycarbonate sheets are one of those remarkable products that can reinforce a building with the stamina it needs to withstand the elements.

POLYCARBONATE SHEETS KEEP INSULATION DRY

POLYCARBONATE SHEETSThe Danpal Ventilated Rain System (VRS), which uses polycarbonate sheets, is one of the most effective ways to keep insulation dry so that moisture doesn’t weaken the building’s ability to use energy efficiently. VRS is designed with an air gap that provides natural ventilation. Insulation stays dry, the building stays moisture-free, and polycarbonate sheets defend the structure against weather.

Keeping insulation dry is one of the most important ways to protect a building. Damp moisture can lead to problems that begin with leaks and a loss of energy and can turn into structural stress and, ultimately, the possibility of building collapse. The damage isn’t merely confined to the building. Damp insulation creates an atmosphere in which mold thrives and once mold has found a home, it doesn’t want to leave. It leads to health problems for the occupants of a building, and if there’s someone who has asthma or allergies, they’ll feel the effects of mold very quickly. Damp insulation also leads to financial issues because you’re paying for energy that you aren’t using. It’s escaping outside and that’s bad for the environment. Dry insulation is the formula for a healthy building and healthy people.

POLYCARBONATE SHEETS: TWO DIFFERENT WAYS TO DELIVER ONE PHENOMENAL PRODUCT

Polycarbonate always delivers when it comes to strength and flexibility, but it also offers you a choice. Multiwall polycarbonate is a structured sheet with hollow air chambers. Solid polycarbonate, which is a clear, flat sheeting, resembles glass in appearance. Polycarbonate sheets are actually half as heavy as glass, but 200 times stronger. So if you want to use a product that looks like glass but doesn’t have its weaknesses, solid polycarbonate sheets are the choice for you.

POLYCARBONATE SHEETS, STRONG AND FLEXIBLE

Danpal’s years of expertise in research of development have put the company in the forefront of innovation. That’s how a product like polycarbonate came into existence. Imagine a product that’s virtually unbreakable, and yet so flexible that it bends. The larger the size of the polycarbonate sheet, the greater the radius of the bend. Polycarbonate is used to make windshields, security screens, moving machinery parts, and farm machinery. A larger polycarbonate sheet is ideal if you have an arching roof. Polycarbonate sheets are lightweight and easy to install, so you can understand why they’re the popular choice for architects.

Polycarbonate Sheets: Today’s Building Material Choice For Strength and Flexibility

Fifty years as leaders in the building industry have provided Danpal with a reputation for innovation and expertise. We operate on five continents so, in addition to our decades of experience, we have a global presence that enhances our ability to live up to our motto, Global Vision, Local Focus. As the market’s expectations change to include materials that are stronger, lighter, more energy efficient and easier to work with, Danpal has been in the forefront of the transformation in the industry. Our reputation as leaders in the manufacturing of building materials has been solidified by our commitment to cutting-edge products that meet customer expectations.

Not all companies have been able to keep up the pace of change that has resulted from technological advances, and not all of the products that were once popular in the industry have been able to maintain their edge. Polycarbonate sheets are one of the new products on the market; they are so strong, flexible and attractive that they are replacing more traditional building materials such as glass.

Polycarbonate Sheets Don’t Surrender To Weather

No matter what weather pattern we’re in, we can be sure that weather will continue to be a force with which to be reckoned. Snow, rain, wind, and hail haven’t changed. Fortunately, technology and efficiency have changed. Polycarbonate sheets, which are available in two different forms, are part of the technological innovation that is redefining how buildings are designed and built. You may choose multiwall polycarbonate, which is a structured sheet with hollow air chambers, or solid polycarbonate, which is a clear, flat sheeting that resembles glass in looks but is much stronger and lighter.

polycarbonate sheetsPolycarbonate Sheets Are Flexible

If a product is lightweight and easy to work with, as polycarbonate sheets are, it’s going to be popular with architects and clients. That’s because installation is going to be smoother as well, causing less disruption for the client and the workplace. When time is saved, money is saved. The flexibility of polycarbonate sheets has already won over clients who manufacture farming machinery, windshields, security screens, and moving machinery parts. Polycarbonate sheets actually bend, making them so much more versatile than glass. If you have an arching roof, a larger polycarbonate sheet is particularly well suited. The larger the size of the sheet, the greater is the bend’s radius.

Polycarbonate is hardened so that its strength is 200 times that of glass but only half as heavy. And yet, polycarbonate sheets are virtually unbreakable. It’s plain to see why architects choose polycarbonate sheets to work with.

The Danpal Ventilated Rain System (VRS) Uses Polycarbonate Sheets

Danpal’s Ventilated Rain System’s polycarbonate sheets keep insulation dry thanks to the air gap that provides natural ventilation. Keeping insulation dry is a vital consideration in the life span of a building because once insulation is compromised, so is the building, even if problems don’t show up immediately.

By using polycarbonate sheets, you’re giving your building all the protection that it needs in order to be able to fight off weather and prevent moisture from penetrating. You’re benefitting as well, because polycarbonate is one of the most popular materials in the industry.

Polycarbonate Sheets are a New Favorite in Building Design

You want the best possible materials for your building. As an architect, you recognize that as times change, so does client preference. As technology has developed new materials that provide higher quality, meeting environmental concerns has provided input into what kinds of products should be used in construction. Keeping on top of changes like this means that architects and others who are working in the building industry need to have resources that they can rely on. Danpal, which has been a leader in the building industry for half a century, is a company whose standards are as high as our dedication to innovation. Architects know that they can count on us for products that will help them build the best possible buildings. We have led the way in developing new products, like polycarbonate sheets, that have transformed the building industry because of their superior strength and performance.

HOW DANPAL’S VENTILATED RAIN SYSTEM USES POLYCARBONATE SHEETS

Danpal’s Ventilated Rain System maintains the company’s reputation for creating a product with high performance standards while at the same time giving a building an exterior that is esthetically pleasing. The insulation of the building benefits from the natural ventilation that results from the air gap in the panels, which are made of polycarbonate. The insulation remains dry and maintains its performance standards for the future. Polycarbonate sheets protect a building from the damage that weather can cause by insulating the structure internally. Protecting the insulation from the damage caused by adverse weather and the resulting leakages is one of the many ways in which polycarbonate sheets demonstrate their impressive ability to extend the life of a building.

Polycarbonate SheetsKNOW YOUR POLYCARBONATE

Polycarbonate sheets come in two different forms. Multiwall polycarbonate is a structural sheet with hollow air chambers. Solid polycarbonate is a clear, flat sheeting that looks like glass. Actually, polycarbonate is 200 times stronger than glass so that it’s better able to provide the kind of performance that clients expect.

Polycarbonate, which has been hardened to make it capable of withstanding high levels of resistance, is 200 times stronger than glass. It’s also much better at adapting to weather than glass is. We all know that weather tends to be unpredictable, so if you want the ultimate protection for your building, you’re going to choose polycarbonate sheets.

Unlike glass, polycarbonate is easy to work with. Its flexibility and easy installation make it the preferred choice for architects when they are making their choices of building materials. Because polycarbonate has been hardened to make it more resistant, it’s also much harder to scratch. Its flexibility makes it the building material of choice for windshields, security screens, farming machinery and as a guard in moving machinery parts.

THE ESTHETIC ADVANTAGES OF POLYCARBONATE SHEETS

The variety of colors that polycarbonate sheets are available in makes this a popular choice for architects and clients. Color brightens up a building and makes it a focal point in the neighborhood. Polycarbonate sheets support the famed daylight architecture that is a feature of the Danpal company.

Wall Cladding Protects Insulation From Moisture

Most people would agree that their household budgets have enough to cover and don’t need any extra expenses added to it. But if your insulation isn’t intact, if moisture has penetrated to the interior of your home or business, then you’ve already added a new item to your budget without even realizing it. That’s because the energy that you use to heat and cool the inside of your structure is escaping outside, increasing your energy bills, and you might not have figured out the reason why. Compromised insulation is one of the main reasons why energy consumption increases; it’s also one of the reasons why buildings experience issues that can, if not attended to promptly, lead to real problems later on. The right wall cladding can help provide the protection that your building must have if it’s going to be able to prevent moisture from invading your home or business.

wall claddingHow Wall Cladding Protects Insulation From Moisture

Weather has a lot of weapons at hand to defeat a building. Year after year, there are snowfalls, rainstorms, winds and hail; and don’t forget about the hot sun which beats down upon a building during the warmer months. Danpal wall cladding has a convective motion, with an air gap to provide natural ventilation, that keeps the insulation dry. Rain and snow are prevented from getting inside because of our connector-bound microcell polycarbonate sheets and our double-notching. How can a building hope to withstand such an onslaught from nature? Danpal has put a lot of research into its products and our wall cladding reflects the innovative spirit that marks all of our materials.

Energy Efficiency and Insulation

Buildings have a vital role to play in the goal to maintain a sustainable lifestyle. In most IEA countries, it’s the buildings that consume 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of primary energy. If your building’s insulation is allowing energy to escape, you’re the one paying the bill but the planet is paying the price for wasted energy. The purpose of insulation is to keep your energy within the structure so that you can maintain a consistent indoor temperature. But once insulation has been damaged by moisture, your heating and cooling systems have to work harder to maintain that consistent temperature. By protecting the insulation of a building, wall cladding is doing its part to help the building occupants support a sustainable lifestyle.

The Benefits Of Working With Danpal Wall Cladding

The main purpose of wall cladding is, as we’ve noted, to protect the insulation of a building. But Danpal wall cladding, because our panels are customizable up to 12.0m standard length, offers a level of creativity and originality in architectural design that you can’t expect to find in other products. Customization is a fantastic benefit for architects because it allows them to indulge in more creativity with their designs. Add in the fact that Danpal wall cladding is available in so many colors and designs and it’s easy to understand how a building’s appearance is enhanced.

Polycarbonate Sheets are Today’s Choice in Building Materials

If a company is going to make its mark in the competitive building industry, it must be innovative. The changes that technology has made in the twenty-first century have altered virtually every aspect of our life, and that’s as true in the building industry as it has been in other areas. Danpal, with its 50 years as a leader in developing building materials that are designed to meet both the immediate needs of the client as well as the broader needs of a sustainable world, knows how to deliver satisfaction on a multitude of levels. First, never skimp on quality. The customer must be confident that the products used in a building are superior so that they will perform their function to the utmost. Second, the products must be able to do their job. In order to last, a building must maintain its strength and integrity. Third, a product must support the energy efficiency standards that are cost-effective for the consumer and environmentally friendly for the planet. And last, but not least, a product that is part of the visual appearance of a building should enhance its esthetics. We’re proud to say that polycarbonate sheets meet all of these requirements.

Polycarbonate SheetsPolycarbonate Sheets Deliver Superior Strength

Innovation and advances and technology mean that building materials that were popular in a previous generation are no longer capable of matching today’s products. Polycarbonate sheets are half as heavy as glass, but 200 times stronger. In addition, polycarbonate sheets are more flexible than glass. You can see the advantages of this trait; flexibility means that polycarbonate sheets are easier to install and customize.

If a building’s components are functioning as they were designed, energy efficiency is assured. When insulation remains dry, energy isn’t going to waste. Your building is using just the amount that’s needed to keep the inside comfortable and free from moisture. That represents a financial savings for you, a structural savings for your building, and an environmental savings for our world.

Whether you choose multiwall polycarbonate, which is a structured sheet made of hollow air chambers, or solid polycarbonate, which is clear, flat sheeting that resembles glass in appearance, you’re choosing a product that offers superior performance. Both multiwall and solid polycarbonate are equal in performance, so in the end, you’re going to choose the polycarbonate that suits the appearance you’re looking for.

Speaking of Appearance . . .

Earlier, we told you that appearance is an important component of the Danpal products that are visible. We’re known for the way that we’ve incorporated light into the architecture of a building, and polycarbonate sheets are included in the Danpal daylight options. We can’t take credit for using daylight as a building material, but we can take credit for creating systems and products that make it easier to include natural light as part of the interior design of a building. With the natural light that comes from Mother Nature, and the color options that Danpal provides, buildings don’t just offer a structural presence; they provide a creative one as well.

Polycarbonate Sheets are Part of the Danpal Culture of Innovation

A company that’s been a leader in its industry for half a century is a company that means to last. So it’s not a surprise that Danpal, which operates on the motto of Global Vision, Local Focus, would have developed a culture of innovation that brings forth the highest quality of new products. Products such as polycarbonate sheets are part of the company’s esteemed inventory of quality, customized, ready to install solutions. Looking for strength? Polycarbonate sheets deliver. Looking for resistance to weather? Polycarbonate sheets deliver. Looking for energy efficiency? Once again, polycarbonate sheets deliver. The story of polycarbonate sheets is one that architects love to hear because they know it’s a product they can rely on for better, stronger buildings. They also love the options that the material provides. Multiwall polycarbonate, a structured sheet with hollow air chambers, and solid polycarbonate, a clear, flat, verson that resembles glass, are equal in strength. The only difference is in appearance, which allows customers to purchase exactly what they’re looking for without sacrificing quality or strength.

Polycarbonate SheetsPolycarbonate Sheets Offer Better Protection Against Weather

Weather has always been a force to be reckoned with, but lately, we’ve all noticed that our weather patterns seem to be even more punishing, and that’s hard on buildings. In order to be able to withstand the heavy rain, the powerful winds and hail, heavy snow, and harsh sunshine, a building without proper protection is easy prey for the season. The Danpal Ventilated Rain System, which uses polycarbonate sheets, is a fortress of protection against the penetration of weather. The insulation within stays dry thanks to the air gap in the panels which provides natural ventilation. If your insulation is healthy, so is your building.

Polycarbonate Sheets Offer Long-Term Life

Polycarbonate sheets, because they’re 200 times stronger than glass, easily adapts to changing weather conditions with a facility that glass lacks. Maybe it’s because the polycarbonate has been hardened to withstand powerful levels of resistance. The flexibility of the product, when matched with its inherent strength, makes polycarbonate popular with architects and industry people because its customizable. Because of the protection that polycarbonate sheets provide, they’re like an insurance plan for your building.

Polycarbonate Sheets Offer Energy Efficiency

The amount of money that we pay on energy costs is reason enough to make sure that the insulation in our buildings is dry and functioning at optimum level. There’s no reason to pay for energy that isn’t being used as we intend it, especially when we realize that 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of primary energy consumption comes from the buildings where we live and work.

Polycarbonate Sheets Offer Daylight

Danpal has become well known for the amount of innovation that it brings to its daylighting techniques. Natural light provides buildings with an advantage that gives the occupants a healthier, more holistic experience. Architects appreciate the opportunity to utilize a building material that surpasses others in its state-of-the-art function while at the same time bringing a beauty and illumination that enhances the atmosphere.

For a building that reflects the research and development that lead to state-of-the-art quality, you can’t do better than Danpal, where innovation is the way we do business.
