Façade Materials Let Daylight In, Keep Weather Out

Most of us have mixed feelings about the weather. We dread the onset of winter and the cold weather that it brings. We’re none too enthusiastic about rain, even though we welcome it so that our gardens and water supplies are replenished. We don’t like windy days because there’s always a risk if the wind is gusting at a powerful rate, that the force may bring down power lines or tear off roofs. We like warm days without excessive humidity, but we don’t always get weather like that. One thing on which we’re all in agreement, however, is that natural light is one of the best features of the natural world. Who doesn’t appreciate the better illumination that it provides, along with the instinctive improvement in our moods? Danpal, a company with half a century of experience in the building industry, had come up with a product, façade materials, that allows us to enjoy the best of weather—the light—while protecting us from the worst.

ENJOY DAYLIGHT WITH FAÇADE MATERIALS

Natural light is one of our favorite aspects of the outdoors and Danpal has blended our appreciation for daylight with its building manufacturing to pioneer “daylighting architecture.” That’s a form of building that permits the presence of natural light into our buildings, both homes, and offices.

Natural light provides illumination that doesn’t just help us to see better; it also helps us feel better. We know from scientific studies that people are more productive and more optimistic in natural light. Façade materials aren’t attempting to replace artificial light, but they give us the ability to enjoy the light that nature created for us.

Facade Materials FAÇADE MATERIALS NEED TO BE STRONG AGAINST WEATHER

What kind of building material is strong enough to withstand the never-ending onslaught of the elements? How can a company create a product that is able to endure the battering force of storm winds, the fury of a downpour of rain, an attack of hail, a heavy snowfall?

Weather doesn’t let up; it simply changes seasons. But Danpal, with a skilled crew of engineers, has relied upon research and development to manufacture façade materials that are strong.

Thanks to microcell technology and a snap-lock connection system, Danpal façade materials keep the weather outside. The higher load resistance comes from our double-click locking seam. We have excellent thermal insulation thanks to the cell structure of the Danpal façade materials. Our façade materials even have UV protection so that the intensity of the sun won’t cause damage.

FAÇADE MATERIALS AND FLEXIBILITY ARE A TEAM

It may seem surprising that our façade materials are so flexible. We don’t always associate strength with flexibility but the ease of installation is a known characteristic of Danpal manufacturing.

Façade materials need to be strong so that they won’t be damaged by the weather. They must also be light in weight so that they’re easy to work with. We’re pleased to say that our façade materials meet our expectations in both regards.

Rainscreen Cladding Protects A Building, Inside And Out

A building leads a double life, one on the outside, seen by the public, and the other on the inside. Passersby notice the exterior of a building as the roof and other outside aspects that are in full view. But when it comes to the inside of a building, it’s a little different.

It’s easy for occupants to observe when the carpeting is worn or the floors need to be washed and buffed, but who notices whether or not insulation has been compromised by weather? That hidden life of a building can be a deciding factor determining the structure’s health and wellbeing. That’s why rainscreen cladding, which creates a defensive barrier to keep external weather from penetrating a building’s interior, is an excellent way to give the structure the protection that it needs.

DANPAL’S SUPERIOR RAINSCREEN CLADDING

Weather is a mighty opponent for a building to face. While we notice, on a day-to-day basis, whether we’re dealing with warm weather or cold, we don’t always pay attention to the consequences of the weather forecast.

That’s why Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen Cladding SYSTEM (VRS) is regarded as one of the best ways to protect a building’s interior from the external elements that strike with such force. VRS has double-notched panels that prevent rain and snow from penetrating the building; this keeps moisture from getting inside.

In addition, VRS provides natural ventilation thanks to an air gap that keeps insulation free from moisture. Another asset of VRS is the ease of installation; connections can be made right onto the support. No additional structural support is needed. Another time-saving feature is the fact that rainscreen cladding doesn’t require periodic service or even a lot of maintenance.

Rainscreen CladdingUSER FRIENDLY RAINSCREEN CLADDING

In addition to the ease of installation, rainscreen cladding by Danpal offers a versatility that adds to appeal of the product. Rainscreen cladding delights architects because it can be made out of various different materials, including galvanized steel, aluminum, plastic, wood, brick, and imitation stone. Architects don’t like to be confined when designing a structure and that’s why Danpal products are a favorite for the profession.

Why should a building be limited in options? Danpal’s aim is to provide an architect with as many tools as possible, and nothing is more vital than unleashed creativity.

RAINSCREEN CLADDING IS THE HEALTHIER OPTION

Insulation is often ignored by a building’s occupants, and yet it’s key to maintaining a healthy living and working place for occupants.

If moisture invades a building’s interior and the insulation gets damp as a result, it won’t be long before mold develops. Mold thrives in a damp environment and then it spreads. Before long, the occupants of the building, particularly those who may suffer from respiratory ailments, may find their health is affected by their physical environment.

People who already have asthma or allergies are especially vulnerable to the harmful effects of mold. Rainscreen cladding doesn’t just protect buildings; it also protects the people inside them by preventing mold from developing.

Danpalon vs Traditional Glazing

The built environment tells a story of human progress, it is the fingerprint of our civilization and an ode to our endeavors. Our collective history is a compilation of discoveries and achievements, most notably in architecture, this progress is clear for all to appreciate. When we consider this, then we understand that it is the architect, who plays the role of the painter and the construction materials are the palette of colors on hand.

It was the dawn of the industrial revolution, which brought on our ability, to produce construction materials such as steel and glass on a large-scale. Fundamentally, this ability altered our skylines forever and evolved our concepts of architecture to this day. With these new production technologies and access to higher-quality uniform materials, architects took their visions to new heights. For the first time, buildings could be designed to embrace the use of natural daylight, as glass became the glazing material of choice.

It’s been 200 years since this revolutionary step forward in our architectural progress, and yet today, in an age of renewed space travel – we still rely so heavily on glass? What happened, why does the building industry still turn to glass as their primary source of glazing, when advanced material technologies, have moved far beyond? This is a question that can be turned on its head, when we consider, what alternatives are there available to us, which can take our architecture forward in the 21st century.

The race to produce advanced building materials that can outperform their traditional counterparts has brought us a variety of light-weight thermoplastic polymers, often adopted within high-tech industries. Pioneered by Bayer, Makrolon is a high-end polycarbonate thermoplastic material, which delivers on the promise for future-proofed glazing. So what exactly is a polycarbonate polymer and why do we believe it to step forward from glass? To delve into this, we must consider the metrics we use to evaluate glass used within the construction industry, in the first place.

For modern glazing to be effective and of useful purpose, the material of choice needs to provide us with the following 11 attributes:

  • Translucency
  • Weatherproof
  • Strength
  • Durability
  • Adaptability
  • Aesthetics
  • Safety
  • Lightweight
  • Thermal Efficiency
  • Solar Performance
  • Green Rating

How does a polycarbonate thermoplastic stack-up against the old glazing standard of glass, when compared along with these attributes? Let’s have a look…

Polycarbonate panels can be extruded, clear as glass or completely opaque and every shade of translucency between.

Polycarbonate panels when provided within a complete façade, roofing or cladding system is a proven weather barrier as tested by ASTM E-331 and ASTM E-283 standards.

A polycarbonate panel, pound for pound, is 200 times stronger than tempered glass, which provides immense resistance to environmental impact.

Durability is a combination of several factors that determine the material’s lifespan, and when polycarbonate is co-extruded with advanced inhibitors, the material will last a building’s lifecycle.

How does a panel adapt to the environment and to the demands of the project? How about the ability to be curved organically and take the shape of the building. Fortunately, polycarbonate polymers achieve this flexibility without compromise.

Polycarbonate panels are offered in a spectrum of color, finishes, profiles, and shapes that are unmatched by any other form of glazing.

Why are polycarbonate thermoplastics used for bullet-proofing solutions, because, of its inherent strength and resistance to shattering? Used for safety glasses, riot gear and in sports equipment, again because polycarbonates are non-combustible and safe.

Even though polycarbonates are inherently much stronger than glass, they are also less than half of the weight of the traditional option.

Thermal efficiency is becoming more important in our modern-day buildings, and when a polycarbonate thermoplastic is extruded into a multicell structured panel, superior U-values below 1.0 Ug (W/m2.K) are achievable.

For a building, keeping the sun at bay translates into lower HVAC costs and a leads directly to a H.Q.E (high-quality environment). When a polycarbonate building panel is co-extruded with a Low-E or reflective finish, SHGC figures below 0.2 are possible.

A green rating is one of the new Gold standards that a 21st-century glazing system must achieve. When compared to glass, the production of polycarbonate panels creates a much smaller carbon footprint. This extends itself right from the factory floor, all the way to transportation and delivery on site.

So we are able to clearly establish that when comparing an advanced polycarbonate thermoplastic panel, directly against its old-world glass counterpart, building material science – has moved us much further ahead. This thermoplastic polymer provides us with a glazing option that is stronger, lighter, more efficient, more durable, has more variety and that is ‘greener’ for the environment. This brings us back to the concept of architects playing the role of a painter, as it becomes obvious that polycarbonates bring to life, a whole new spectrum of vivid colors to our palette.

Plastic Roofing Brings Strength and Light to Your Building Project

Danpal’s Options for Plastic Roofing

For over 50 years, Danpal has been at the forefront of creating and installing innovative roofing systems that offer optimal thermal and solar comfort. Giving you the option of choosing from skylights, roofs, facades and more, Danpal is the choice for your roofing solutions.

Danpal roofing can be installed above and below various different kinds of buildings. The plastic roofing uses snap-on interlocking dry-glazed connectors that are made from either aluminum or polycarbonate. With plastic roofing, a building has the benefits of superior weather protection, energy efficiency, and an attractive appearance.

Plastic Roofing and Weather

You might think that the weather has it in for roofs. After all, the roof is the first target for rain, snow, and all the rough elements that pour out of the sky like they’re sent on an aerial mission to destroy. That just means that the roofing you select needs to be strong enough to handle the attack. Plastic roofing, thanks to the overall strength and quality of its design, as well as the quality of the materials that are used to create the roofing system, can be relied upon to withstand weather and offer high-impact resistance.

Plastic roofing also offers protection against the effects of the sun. We don’t always consider the effects of sunlight on a building, but Danpal’s plastic roofing panels offer UV protection so that the roof remains in good condition for a longer period of time.

The Benefits of Light with Plastic Roofing

The roof on top of a building has a powerful effect on everything that’s underneath, and this is where the combination of plastic roofing and light works to such a winning advantage. Every space in the building needs light in order to be fully functional. Plastic roofing allows the light to enter, balancing it so that it’s emitted in just the right amounts. Natural light adds much to our living space, and it also provides a boost for us as well.

Easy Installation of Plastic Roofing

Plastic roofing is light in weight and won’t put undue pressure on the structure. Working with lightweight materials makes installation smooth and easy, saving time and money because the work happens so effortlessly. But don’t worry; lightweight doesn’t mean weak. Plastic roofing is strong.

Lookin’ Good with Plastic Roofing

Once the roofing is in place, the visual effect is stunning. Much of that is due to the transparent materials that are used, which provide the ideal balance of light that works so well for interior space. Because of Danpal’s amazing array of colors, finishes, aspects and spectacular effects, you’ll have no trouble finding just the right look to release the building’s creative image.

Plastic Roofing is a Plus for the Environment

Danpal, committed to thinking both globally and locally, maintains a high regard for sustainability and protecting the environment. That’s why indoor air quality is a high priority for the company. What affects Danpal customers affects the world, because Danpal, which operates on five continents, knows that the globe is home to all of us.

Know What to Look for When Choosing a Roofing System

What to Look for in a Roofing System

A building has a vision that arises from the creativity of the architect and the quality and innovation of the materials that will be used to take that building from a design to a completed structure. Even though a building is a very practical, utilitarian reality, the planning that gets the process started involves both research and inspiration. Where is the building located? The answer will determine the materials that are chosen. What is your budget? You’re going to want to purchase the highest quality of materials while adhering to the financial boundaries of your client’s directions.

What kind of impression should the building create in the neighborhood? The esthetics of a building can turn an ordinary structure into a landmark. But if you choose the wrong roofing system, all of the work that you’ve put into the building is wasted. With so many things to decide and so many options on the market, you should check in with the experts at Danpal to find out what they have to offer.

Roofing SystemThe Weather and Your Roofing System

The map is going to have a great deal of influence upon your final decision for a roofing system. The roof is the main barrier separating the building’s interior and exterior. A roof can’t fail the building beneath it; it must be able to withstand whatever conditions are common in the area, whether that means the powerful rains of one geographical area, the fierce snows of another location, the scorching heat from one place, or the overwhelming winds from somewhere else.

An architect needs to have a thorough understanding of the regional climate when choosing a roofing system because particular roofs work better in specific climate zones.

Matching Budget and Quality for Your Roofing System

A building is a significant investment of money, time, and labor. You’re going to want to choose a roofing system that’s built to last. If you decide to cut corners and buy the cheapest materials you can find, you’re ultimately going to spend a lot more in repairs than you would have if you’d opted for quality in the first place. Technology has greatly broadened the quality of building materials for roofing systems, and architects and designers have seen the industry evolve dramatically thanks to these advancements.

Danpal has built its reputation on developing and manufacturing cutting-edge, state-of-the-art materials to construct buildings that last. If you want your roofing system to benefit from the research and testing that has already been done, Danpal has the products you’re looking for.

How Does the Roofing System Look from Down Below?

Don’t be fooled into thinking that, because the roof is all the way up there on top of the building, no one will notice it. The roof’s appearance is actually one of the most important components of the overall building image. The texture, type, and color of the roof need to blend with the exterior style and finish of the building. The architectural styles need to complement one another or the final effect will look unprofessional and unattractive.

Choose a curtain wall system for your building’s appearance and defense against weather

If you’ve been listening to the weather reports lately, you’ve probably noticed that either Mother Nature is having one major temper tantrum, or the seasons are changing. On all parts of the planet, people are coming to terms with stronger storms, unpredictable variations in patterns, and a growing sense that all of us need to pay attention to the signs coming out of the sky.

Smart consumers are adapting their lifestyles and their routines to accommodate the need to treat the planet the way we would treat a beloved family member who’s going through a rough time: gently, attentively, and unselfishly. The building industry is doing the same thing as everyone else because we know that the structures that architects design need to conform to the ethical and sustainable goals of an environmentally-conscious society while still meeting the needs and preferences of architects and their clients.

At Danpal, we can promise that the products that you buy are designed with quality in mind. Research and development aren’t just words at Danpal; they’re a priority. There are many ways to design a building that provides structural strength and aesthetic appeal and one of those ways is to install a curtain wall system.

Curtain Wall SystemsCURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS ARE A SHIELD AGAINST WEATHER

Danpal’s microcell technology is key to the strength of a Danpal curtain wall system. The material is incredibly strong and at the same time, it’s light in weight and easy to work with. Rain and snow bring moisture that, once inside, becomes the enemy. The weather that manages to invade a building’s interior can cause a lot of damage over time, so protection from leaks is one of the popular assets of having a curtain wall system.

Another prized feature of our curtain wall systems is the protection they offer from hail, a potentially dangerous weather phenomenon that has the power to inflict considerable damage against an unprotected building. A building doesn’t have to be a fort to be protected from the weather; all it needs is a curtain wall system from Danpal.

BEAUTY IS BUILT INTO THE CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS

Danpal doesn’t want a building to look as if it’s so super-protected that it could double for a military complex. We know that people want to live and work in buildings that have an attractive appearance, where comfort is a priority. Danpal curtain wall systems have the unique ability to take the color palette and turn it into a building’s rainbow runway. We even have a variety of different shades of white that can give your building a lustrous appearance. Customizing the look of a building to the tone and flavor of the neighborhood is something for which curtain wall systems are especially well suited.

THE CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS ARE EASY TO WORK WITH

The construction of a building takes a lot of time. So isn’t it nice that a curtain wall system from Danpal, because it’s made of lightweight materials, is easy to install, taking less time and effort? The concealed joints that keep the exterior wall flush also facilitate the ease of customization, which is another plus for installation, along with the curtain wall system’s double-locking seam.

All of these Danpal features add up to a curtain wall system that gives your building protection against weather, ease of installation, and an enhanced appearance.

Celebrate the Uniqueness of Each Individual Building

A Key Element in Presenting Your Architectural Vision

The internationally renowned architect, Diego Garteiz Mina, recently collaborated with Pal Plastic’s, very own Marketing and Sales Manager, Gorka Goikoextea Retana. Together, they attended technical conferences on architecture, organized by Danpal Mexico, and hosted in the Torre Mayor building, Mexico City.

The Vizcayan architect began his speech explaining some of the most relevant projects developed throughout his extensive professional career. In addition, he exemplified with images, his particular vision during the construction process of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The complexity of the project modified his initial concept during the development of architectural design.

DanpalFrom his professional experience, his main idea has always been to represent the uniqueness of each building. He does this via new concepts, such as capturing the simplicity and essence of each space, and integrating the structures with their surroundings. He can then use this as a differentiating element, the effects being produced by the interplay of sunlight on each surface.

Unique Spaces

This is how he came up with the concepts that would later become another of his main projects; the Bullring of Illescas, in Toledo, whose structure stood out at the time as the largest mobile roof in Spain. Another feature that makes this space unique, is the incorporation of elements, usually only found during the production process. Although they may not be functional, they become a differentiating element of design, as observed in images of the bullring in Illescas.

In this concrete architectural project, Diego Garteiz, chose to use the Danpalon® based system, combining it with metallic structures. He managed, not only to create a dynamic exterior effect and color, according to the solar incidence but a special interior transmission created by light at different times of the day.

The solar transmission which characterizes the architectural works of Garteiz, can also be observed in the building of warehouses, constructed in Alaves Lanciego. Here, he incorporated one of the very elements used during the process of winemaking. Other elements are also integrated into the structure of the facade. These materials, combined with the Danpal® system, manage to create a unique effect, both on the outside and inside of each surface, by generating unique light effects.

Danpal, Trust and Long-Term Guarantee

I have been collaborating with Danpal for over 20 years, a company that has my complete and total confidence. In this sense, Garteiz explained, “We have been working a lot with Danpal products throughout Spain. The material, not only guarantees durability over the passage of time but also, an extreme lightness that encourages speed of construction during assembly on site. In addition to cost savings, the construction of unique structures in which energy efficiency and the transmission of sunlight are spectacular. The definition of spaces created by natural daylight, allow us to achieve unique areas of high quality for everyday use.” – the architect concluded.

Rainscreen cladding helps prevent mold from developing

We know when cold and flu season is upon us because we become very aware of how much contact we have with one another. We use hand sanitizer faithfully so that we keep our hands free of any germs we might up. But not all illnesses come from human contact. The structural equivalent of cold and flu season for a building is all year around, 365 days a year. Building health has a lot to do with human health. We spend a great deal of our time inside buildings; most of our day, in fact, is spent inside unless we have outdoor jobs. However, the buildings in which we live and work can have a direct impact on our health, particularly for anyone who has respiratory issues.

The real culprit isn’t the building itself but rather the damage that can take place if weather manages to invade the inside of the building. If dampness from snow or rain is able to compromise insulation, the results can lead to ill health for your building through the development of mold. And mold affects the people who live and work inside the structure. But Danpal rainscreen cladding can make the difference in how you keep your building healthy enough to avoid mold.

RAINSCREEN CLADDINGRAINSCREEN CLADDING RESISTS WEATHER DAMAGE.

We all know how weather affects us personally. A cold blustery day sees us wearing scarves and gloves along with our heavy coats. We’re searching for our umbrellas when there’s rain in the forecast. We can protect ourselves from the effects of weather, but what do buildings do? The external building may seem as if it’s impenetrable, but how can you be certain? If you choose to add rainscreen cladding to your building, you’re adding weather protection and peace of mind.

Keeping insulation dry is vital if the building is going to remain sturdy and healthy for those within. Leaks of any kind are a diagnosis that no building wants to have; a leak can weaken the structure and eventually cause serious problems that compromise the integrity of the building.

Rainscreen cladding, which is made of an outer panel, a ventilated cavity, and an inner panel, is protection from the damage caused by moisture. An air gap between the cladding and the building’s exterior nurtures a steady flow of air. Rain is also prevented from entering because of the overhangs and screens. Moisture stays out, and insulation stays dry.

RAINSCREEN CLADDING IS THE RX FOR A HEALTHY BUILDING

If you suffer from asthma or allergies, you’re already well aware of the harmful effects of mold. Health professionals warn us that mold is an ominous threat to people who are dealing with breathing issues. That’s why you need to make sure that the buildings in which you spend your days and nights are healthy, with dry insulation and no leaks.

KEEPING THE PLANET HEALTHY WITH RAINSCREEN CLADDING

The connection between wet insulation and respiratory ailments has another aspect that must be addressed. If insulation is damp, it’s unable to do its job effectively. That means using more energy to heat and cool a building. Wasted energy is an economic factor for us because it means that we’re paying for energy we aren’t using. But in these days when we’re all trying to do our part to shrink the size of our carbon footprint, we don’t want energy inefficiency to increase environmental concerns.

Curtain Wall Systems: Weather Protection for all Seasons

You know what a curtain is. You know what a wall is. You know what a system is. What you may be pondering is how all these elements combine to create an entity that provides better weather protection for your building while promoting practices and providing choices that offer both environmental and esthetic choices. Architects are trained to create a building that starts as a concept and finishes as a structure. In between those starting and ending points, there’s Danpal.

SECURITY WITH A DANPAL CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM

The construction process that goes along with the installation of a curtain wall system reveals a lot of work. But much of the work that’s part of the process is unseen. In order to create a curtain wall system that has the high performance quality that Danpal products are famous for, we dedicated an impressive amount of research, time, and effort. Because our products are light in weight, they’re easier to work with. Clients appreciate the increased convenience and financial savings that they receive as a result. Flexibility adds to the esthetics of the curtain wall system; ours have concealed joints to keep the exterior wall flush, allowing for adaptation to the desired shape. The building is secure thanks to our double-click locking seam which adds to the easy installation process. Those features are the result of the know-how that Danpal brings to the manufacturing process: before we build it, we’ve researched it and tested it so that. You see the finished product. That’s where Danpal innovation and quality are visible.

CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMSWHAT A CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM ADDS TO YOUR BUILDING

Maybe you’re wondering why we’re so proud of our curtain wall systems. It’s true that curtain wall systems don’t play a structural part in the design of your building, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t important. A building can’t protect itself from the damage that weather can cause, whether it’s from a single extreme event or the ongoing, relentless effects of snow, wind, rain and even sunlight on the structure. Our secret weapon is our microcell technology, which gives the curtain wall system that line of defense that keeps damage out. Once a building has been damaged on the inside by dampness left behind from snow or rain, it’s compromised in a manner that will affect your energy expenses, the structural integrity of the building, and the overall life expectancy of the building. A curtain wall system keeps a building strong throughout the seasons.

CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS ARE ATTRACTIVE

Flexibility. Strength. Energy efficiency. Protection from weather damage. Color.
Color? How does color come into the picture? At Danpal, we regard performance and appearance as a match. If you buy a car, you’re looking at more than tires and miles per gallon, right? You’re also checking out its looks. Buildings are the same. They have a purpose and they have a visual appeal. A curtain wall system adds that extra something to your building’s image and you’ll enjoy the options that Danpal provides with regard to colors, textures, and finishes.

Gaining Heat in a Windy City

For a large swimming pool complex, high winds and cool temperatures outside make thermal efficiency targets that little bit harder to attain. Add in the need to maximize the amount of natural light poolside, and achieving required heat gains presents a challenge. Translucent Danpalon® façade systems are providing building designers with an elegant solution.

Pachuca in Central Mexico is a very windy city and by Mexican standards is also quite cold, with an average temperature of 16ºC throughout the year. When Alberca Universidad Politécnica Metropolitana came to rebuild its swimming pool complex the building’s thermal efficiency was a key design criteria.

FACADE SYSTEMAt the same time, the project needed to reuse as much existing infrastructure as was possible. With the swimming pool then largely determining the building’s orientation, façade design played a vital role in maximizing natural light and heat gain on the inside while handling the high winds on the outside.

The architects, Instituto Hidalguense de la Infraestructura Fisica Educativa (INHIFE) also had to face the challenge of building in sandy soil conditions that offered a relatively low weight resistance. With the weight and movement of the swimming pool being a significant part of the structure’s overall loading, the use of lightweight façade materials was vital. Turning to translucent Danpalon® polycarbonate façade systems, the INHIFE architects found an aesthetically pleasing and technically robust solution capable of meeting the project’s competing demands for light diffusion, thermal insulation, physical strength and low material weight.

A full-height Danpalon® façade constructed using 16mm Ice panels runs the complete length of one side of the swimming pool on a steel frame, while a further Danpalon® façade using a combination of 22mm 3DLite metallic grey and red panels sits at one end of the pool.

INHIFE architect Edgar Baca said, “The fantastic level of light diffusion that these two complementary façades achieve creates a truly unique ambience, with high quality daylight for the interior and a wonderful luminosity for the exterior at night.”

He continued, “Danpalon® has added a huge amount of character to the building thanks to the interaction of material, light and surroundings. At no point does it ever look the same. The hue, texture and appearance depends on where it’s viewed from and the weather conditions. It has given the project real life and personality.”

The new swimming pool complex is a unique wedge-like form composed of gentle slopes, elegant curves and striking lines. A heightened façade wall to increase the natural light diffusion and enable optimization of roof span and pitch was aided by the use of extra long Danpalon® panels, which also avoided the need for horizontal jointing. Panel installation was rapid, taking just a few days from delivery to completion.

Baca added, “Considering the enhanced thermal efficiency the new swimming pool building has attained, and the tremendous functionality it is now providing, this is a project that to date has not once caused us to think that any kind of design adjustment was merited – it really is working to perfection.”

RAINSCREEN CLADDING: A BUILDING’S BEST DEFENSE AGAINST MOISTURE

The next time it rains, take the time to look outside and notice how the raindrops hit your building or home. For us, rain is a temporary inconvenience that’s alleviated as soon as we get inside a building or a car. But for a building, rain is a relentless soaking that lasts as long as the shower or storm. It’s a good idea to provide as much protection as possible for your building, because rain can cause a tremendous amount of damage internally. Rainscreen cladding is one way to provide a structure with that level of protection because it offers a defensive barrier that keeps moisture from penetrating. If you want your building to last last a long time without deterioration caused by weather damage, consider rainscreen cladding.

THE VERSATILITY OF RAINSCREEN CLADDING

In most regions of the globe, temperatures vary considerably from season to season. The balmy heat of a summer day in July might turn into temperatures that are below freezing when January arrives. Architectural designs are drawn with this range in mind, and building products are manufactured to deal with the swings in temperature. Rainscreen cladding can be made of different materials, including aluminum and galvanized steel. It’s also available in plastic, imitation stone, wood and brick.

Rainscreen claddingRAINSCREEN CLADDING BY DANPAL

Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen System (VRS) is uniquely designed to keep weather from getting inside a building. With double-notched panels, VRS can mount a powerful defense against penetration by rain or snow that could otherwise allow moisture to invade the building’s interior space. VRS also protects the insulation itself with the natural ventilation created by an air gap that enables the system to work efficiently, keeping the insulation dry and moisture-free.

Rainscreen cladding has many advantages and one that clients find especially attractive is the fact that it doesn’t need a lot of maintenance or periodic service. It’s strong and durable. Danpal rainscreen cladding has another popular feature that makes it a favorite for clients: installation is easy. Because the connections can be made directly onto the support, additional structural support isn’t needed during the installation process.

KEEPING YOUR INSULATION DRY IS A PRIORITY FOR RAINSCREEN CLADDING

When we’re thinking about repair projects and getting a house ready for the seasons, we often fail to think about insulation. We pay attention to the obvious tasks that need to be done, like cleaning the gutters or making sure the windows don’t admit drafts, and these are all necessary things to do. But insulation should not be neglected. If you don’t have rainscreen cladding and moisture has been able to get inside your building, serious problems can arise. One problem is energy waste. If your insulation is wet, it can’t keep your heating and cooling systems operating efficiently. Energy that escapes outside is going to cost you money. Once moisture has found a niche within the interior of your home, it soon leads to the growth of mold, which will lead to health risks for the occupants.

Roofing Stands Tough Against Weather

With the rise of environmental consciousness has come a dynamic new outlook on the way we live, the foods we eat, the cars we drive and, last but not least, the buildings in which we live and work. At Danpal, we fulfill our purpose to develop cutting-edge building materials that support the environmental needs of the planet and meet the expectations of our clients. Not all companies regard their mission in this light but for us, the products that we create are designed to last. We believe that any product with a life span should accommodate the next generation of Earth’s occupants. Danpal’s plastic roofing is just one of the products in our line that reflects this awareness of Global Vision, Local Focus. That’s the Danpal motto and it’s the way we do business.

Danpal Plastic Roofing Partners With The Environment

Roofing may not seem like a topic that measures up to something as broad as environmental responsibility, but Danpal’s designers and engineers reflect the company philosophy as they develop our products. Roofing is the defense system that protects a building from the invading forces of nature. In that role, Danpal’s plastic roofing, because it’s designed to keep out moisture and drafts, is partnering with the environment so that the energy that’s used remains inside the building. There’s a lot that people don’t know about how effective plastic roofing is and we’re happy to explain why you should consider it for your roofing needs.

Plastic RoofingPlastic Roofing Supports Energy Efficiency

Buildings in developed countries are the source of about 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the energy usage in those respective nations. That’s why plastic roofing, which is so environmentally efficient, is the smart, savvy choice for today’s eco-minded clients. Keeping energy within the building is vital. That’s why we recommend our high-quality plastic roofing. It saves on energy usage by avoiding waste, and that saves money. Any building that’s made from low-quality materials isn’t going to last against the day-to-day buffeting that it receives from weather and that’s when energy efficiency is at risk. If moisture manages to penetrate a building, it’s only a matter of time before insulation is compromised and energy is lost. Not only will you be paying for the energy that you use, but you’re also paying for the energy that’s escaping. Danpal plastic roofing is designed to keep energy inside and weather outside.

Keeping Weather From Getting Inside Your Building

Part of the reason that plastic roofing is so effective at supporting energy efficiency within is that it’s so good at keeping weather outside. Nature is a powerful force and no matter in which region you live, it’s quite likely that you’ve experienced the elements. A thunderstorm, with its powerful winds and driving rain, lets us know that nature calls the shots. Or maybe it’s a furious winter storm that sends freezing temperatures, heavy snowfall, and gusts of wind that lets us know that we’re at nature’s mercy. We have the option of going indoors to escape the fury of weather but buildings have nowhere to go. It’s for that reason that they must be designed and built with the highest quality of products, like our plastic roofing.

Danpal Roofing Systems Keep Weather Away From Insulation

Danpal’s motto, Global Vision, Local Focus, explains a lot about how the company does business. They’re leaders in the building industry but they never forget that buildings are for people to use and to live in. Nor do they forget that a building and the people who occupy it are part of a much larger network of human beings who all depend upon the environment in which we all live. With that perspective, it’s easy to understand why Danpal has never been content during its half-century of existence, to just maintain the status quo. At Danpal, research and development are always underway to find ways to make even better products that meet customers’ needs and protect the environment. That concern is part of the reason that Danpal roofing systems are so highly regarded in the industry.

DANPAL ROOFINGROOFING SYSTEMS THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE

That might sound like a lot to ask of a roofing system, but for Danpal, buildings exist to serve the people who live and work in them. One of the ways that a Danpal roofing system improves the quality of life is because of the way it incorporates natural light into the interior of the building. Danpal has pioneered the innovative concept of daylighting architecture and with that innovation, buildings feature natural light. Natural light is important for everyone and having it inside a building is another way that the roofing system enhances the quality of life for the people who occupy it. The workspace nurtures a more productive environment for the occupants both in terms of their tasks and their wellbeing.

A ROOFING SYSTEM THAT PROTECTS INSULATION

The key factor in your building’s performance is maintaining the integrity of its insulation. If weather invades and moisture manages to penetrate the exterior of your building, the result is a reduction in the insulation of the insulation, a loss of energy efficiency, the threat of mold and the potential collapse of the building. When you consider all the things that could happen if insulation is compromised, it’s easy to understand why Danpal roofing systems are so adept at protecting it. The panels in a Danpal roofing system have a unique cell structure that enables them to deliver more efficient thermal insulation. This improved efficiency is confirmed by the improved “U” and “R” values.

HOW DANPAL ROOFING SYSTEMS WORK

If weather were easier to get along with, roofing systems could relax. But as long as the skies open up to release torrential downpours or blinding snowstorms, hail and winds, roofing systems must be vigilant. Fortunately for buildings, Danpal roofing systems are made with microcell technology. The microcell structure offers high resistance to impact, standing seams, and a double-tooth grip lock connection. That’s the kind of force that’s required for a roofing system to prevail against weather. The roofing system’s Danpalon panels are designed to maintain the integrity of the roof for well into the future because of their co-extended UV protection.

There’s less aggravation when it comes to working with and installing a Danpal roofing system. Because the system uses snap-on, dry-glazed connectors made of aluminum or polycarbonate, they’re light in weight and flexible. The ease of installation means that less time has to be spent in the process, something that clients will appreciate because it means there’s less inconvenience involved.

Skylight Roofing Captures Daylight

As the weather begins to change from cold, chilly winter to warmer spring, we all try to spend as much time outside as we possibly can. For everyone who lives in the climate zones where snow, cold winds and ice are a feature of daily existence for three to four months of the year, spring is like the call of the siren. We want to go outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, the fragrant breezes, and most of all, the daylight. But we can’t, because we have to stay inside to work. Once we get home, we’re so busy with household tasks and family needs that the day seems to escape from us. Maybe that’s why skylight roofing is so popular; it’s a way to capture some of that daylight even though we’re inside. Danpal skylight roofing, with the famed daylighting architecture that Danpal has pioneered, is one way to hold onto as much natural light as possible, even when inside.

SKYLIGHT ROOFING BRINGS IN MORE LIGHT

If you think that you feel better in natural light, you’re not imagining it. Studies have proven what we already now: we like the light! We’re more productive in natural light; we feel better about ourselves; our attitude is more positive. We need artificial light, too, but there’s just nothing like the natural light and with skylight roofing, that natural light is present inside your living space or work space.

Skylight Roofing THE COMPATIBILITY OF SKYLIGHT ROOFING WITH OTHER ROOFING TYPES

You’ll be glad to learn that whether your existing roof is concrete or profiled metal, skylight roofing is easy to install. Danpal’s roofing systems are customizable so that they can vary in length and size; this makes them easy to integrate and connect into place. What does this mean for the customer? Less time and effort during the installation process equals less inconvenience and less cost.

SKYLIGHT ROOFING IS STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE WORST WEATHER

Danpal uses microcell technology because it’s so strong. Weather is a fierce foe but a building has to be able to withstand the forces of nature, whether it’s the powerful rainstorms that send water flooding from the skies, or harsh winter snows and winds. There’s no way to avoid weather, so the only solution is to design buildings that are strong enough to handle it. That’s why microcell technology, with its resistance to the damage that weather can do, is such an asset for skylight roofing. And Danpal skylight roofing also has UV protection, because even those hot, sunny days that we love can be hard on a roof if it’s not protected.

Wall Cladding Protects Insulation From Moisture

Most people would agree that their household budgets have enough to cover and don’t need any extra expenses added to it. But if your insulation isn’t intact, if moisture has penetrated to the interior of your home or business, then you’ve already added a new item to your budget without even realizing it. That’s because the energy that you use to heat and cool the inside of your structure is escaping outside, increasing your energy bills, and you might not have figured out the reason why. Compromised insulation is one of the main reasons why energy consumption increases; it’s also one of the reasons why buildings experience issues that can, if not attended to promptly, lead to real problems later on. The right wall cladding can help provide the protection that your building must have if it’s going to be able to prevent moisture from invading your home or business.

wall claddingHow Wall Cladding Protects Insulation From Moisture

Weather has a lot of weapons at hand to defeat a building. Year after year, there are snowfalls, rainstorms, winds and hail; and don’t forget about the hot sun which beats down upon a building during the warmer months. Danpal wall cladding has a convective motion, with an air gap to provide natural ventilation, that keeps the insulation dry. Rain and snow are prevented from getting inside because of our connector-bound microcell polycarbonate sheets and our double-notching. How can a building hope to withstand such an onslaught from nature? Danpal has put a lot of research into its products and our wall cladding reflects the innovative spirit that marks all of our materials.

Energy Efficiency and Insulation

Buildings have a vital role to play in the goal to maintain a sustainable lifestyle. In most IEA countries, it’s the buildings that consume 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of primary energy. If your building’s insulation is allowing energy to escape, you’re the one paying the bill but the planet is paying the price for wasted energy. The purpose of insulation is to keep your energy within the structure so that you can maintain a consistent indoor temperature. But once insulation has been damaged by moisture, your heating and cooling systems have to work harder to maintain that consistent temperature. By protecting the insulation of a building, wall cladding is doing its part to help the building occupants support a sustainable lifestyle.

The Benefits Of Working With Danpal Wall Cladding

The main purpose of wall cladding is, as we’ve noted, to protect the insulation of a building. But Danpal wall cladding, because our panels are customizable up to 12.0m standard length, offers a level of creativity and originality in architectural design that you can’t expect to find in other products. Customization is a fantastic benefit for architects because it allows them to indulge in more creativity with their designs. Add in the fact that Danpal wall cladding is available in so many colors and designs and it’s easy to understand how a building’s appearance is enhanced.

Rainscreen Cladding

Maybe someday, technology will advance to the point where a building can alter its construction based upon the weather forecast. Maybe there will come a time when we live and work in genius buildings that don a protective coating that shields it from the effects of a pounding rainstorm. Maybe we’ll see the day when buildings will be immune to the powerful heat of the sun. But before the day comes when buildings have wardrobes that include structural raincoats and sunglasses, Danpal suggests that you look into rainscreen cladding. It’s the closest thing we have to weather protection for buildings and it works! Rainscreen cladding even has an advantage that a wardrobe doesn’t have. It’s much easier to maintain. After it’s been washed with water, it looks like it was just installed. Wouldn’t it be nice if our wardrobes were that easy to maintain?

How Weather Harms Buildings

We tend to think of weather in terms of how it affects us, not our living spaces and working spaces. But if you’ve ever had to put a bucket under a leak in the roof to prevent water from dripping all over the floor, you’ve learned firsthand that weather is a force to be reckoned with. Every aspect of weather, even a light drizzle or a brief snowfall, brings with it a process of deterioration. Weather is inescapable. But the building industry has devised defenses to protect structures from the elements and Danpal, with 50 years of experience, has used its research and innovation to become a leader in the field.

Rainscreen CladdingThe Role Of Rainscreen Cladding

Your building doesn’t make wardrobe changes. But with cladding, a building has a protective layer that’s designed to protect the interior from moisture. Rainscreen cladding is the way that insulation is kept free from leaks which can do so much harm. With our Ventilated Rainscreen System (VRS), the building’s weather protection comes from our double-notched wall panels. Natural ventilation provided by an air gap protects the insulation so that moisture from snow and rain can’t affect it. When we’re inside, we want to be spectators, not participants, in the weather activity going on outside. Knowing that your building is dry from the insulation inward gives you a sense of confidence in the protective features that your architect has designed.

The Efficiency of Rainscreen Cladding

Rainscreen cladding connections are fastened right onto the support itself with no need for additional support features. Whether you choose metal cladding that’s made of galvanized steel or aluminum, or you prefer plastic, imitation stone, brick or wood, you’ll find that rainscreen cladding is the economical, efficient way to protect your building. With that efficiency comes enhanced energy usage as well. The heating and cooling that you’re paying for to live and work in comfort are exactly what your building is providing. Energy isn’t escaping from the inside to the outside because the insulation is failing to do its job.

Your rainscreen cladding supports the process of keeping insulation dry in order for the building to maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature no matter the season.

Plastic Roofing Brings Strength and Light to Your Building Project

Danpal’s Options for Plastic Roofing

For over 50 years, Danpal has been in the forefront of creating and installing innovative roofing systems that offer optimal thermal and solar comfort.

You might think that weather has it in for roofs.

Plastic Roofing The Benefits of Light with Plastic Roofing

Polycarbonate Sheets are Today’s Choice in Building Materials

If a company is going to make its mark in the competitive building industry, it must be innovative. The changes that technology has made in the twenty-first century have altered virtually every aspect of our life, and that’s as true in the building industry as it has been in other areas. Danpal, with its 50 years as a leader in developing building materials that are designed to meet both the immediate needs of the client as well as the broader needs of a sustainable world, knows how to deliver satisfaction on a multitude of levels. First, never skimp on quality. The customer must be confident that the products used in a building are superior so that they will perform their function to the utmost. Second, the products must be able to do their job. In order to last, a building must maintain its strength and integrity. Third, a product must support the energy efficiency standards that are cost-effective for the consumer and environmentally friendly for the planet. And last, but not least, a product that is part of the visual appearance of a building should enhance its esthetics. We’re proud to say that polycarbonate sheets meet all of these requirements.

Polycarbonate SheetsPolycarbonate Sheets Deliver Superior Strength

Innovation and advances and technology mean that building materials that were popular in a previous generation are no longer capable of matching today’s products. Polycarbonate sheets are half as heavy as glass, but 200 times stronger. In addition, polycarbonate sheets are more flexible than glass. You can see the advantages of this trait; flexibility means that polycarbonate sheets are easier to install and customize.

If a building’s components are functioning as they were designed, energy efficiency is assured. When insulation remains dry, energy isn’t going to waste. Your building is using just the amount that’s needed to keep the inside comfortable and free from moisture. That represents a financial savings for you, a structural savings for your building, and an environmental savings for our world.

Whether you choose multiwall polycarbonate, which is a structured sheet made of hollow air chambers, or solid polycarbonate, which is clear, flat sheeting that resembles glass in appearance, you’re choosing a product that offers superior performance. Both multiwall and solid polycarbonate are equal in performance, so in the end, you’re going to choose the polycarbonate that suits the appearance you’re looking for.

Speaking of Appearance . . .

Earlier, we told you that appearance is an important component of the Danpal products that are visible. We’re known for the way that we’ve incorporated light into the architecture of a building, and polycarbonate sheets are included in the Danpal daylight options. We can’t take credit for using daylight as a building material, but we can take credit for creating systems and products that make it easier to include natural light as part of the interior design of a building. With the natural light that comes from Mother Nature, and the color options that Danpal provides, buildings don’t just offer a structural presence; they provide a creative one as well.

Skylight Roof, Stronger and Lighter Than You Think

Construction in today’s world needs to be able to adhere to regulations which maintain safe and sustainable practices. It must be able to create a structure that delivers energy efficiency. It should be attractive in appearance. Skylight roofing meets all of those requirements, with a little something extra: it’s the kind of roofing that gets noticed. Danpal skylight roof also offers a little something extra, particularly in its versatility. With varying lengths and sizes that slot into their designated places, our skylight roofing is easily integrated and installed. That means that, regardless of whether your roofing is concrete or profiled metal, you can still use skylight roofing. There are so many advantages that you’ll wonder why you didn’t install it sooner.

Skylight RoofingNo Weather Worries: Skylight Roofing Can Handle the Weather

Skylight roofing has an esthetic flavor that traditional roofing lacks, but don’t worry that it acquired that trait at the expense of its strength, because that’s not the case at all. Skylight roofing can hold its own when it comes to protecting a building from the powerful forces of nature that can cause damage. Danpal’s microcell technology is 100{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} watertight, permitting no rain or snow from outside to invade the interior of a building or allow moisture to develop.

The Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System

Danpal is known as a pioneer in daylighting architecture, so it’s no surprise that we’ve perfected skylight roofing that incorporates natural lighting into our buildings. You’ll see how Danpal roofing systems and the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System deliver easy integration, superior insulation, and UV protection for a longer life.

With daylight as a feature of the building, longer life also means better life, because natural lighting is so much better than relying solely on artificial light. Imagine how it will be when your skylight roofing brings daylight into your building so that you can see better, feel better, and work better. It’s not just productivity that’s improved with the inclusion of natural light. Studies show that people find that they actually do feel better when natural light is added to the interior of their workspace and living space. You might not expect skylight roofing to improve your quality of life, but daylight makes a difference that matters!

How Daylighting Improves a Building’s Appearance with Skylight Roofing

We’ve explained how much the inclusion of natural daylight into your building can add to its appeal. But the esthetic improvements that skylight roofing makes possible don’t end there. The ribs of the panels are tightly spaced so that, when joined with the light, the visual effect is stunning. With skylight roofing, you have transparency that’s actually superior to the appearance of glass.

Skylight roofing is roofing that knows how to please. It’s flexible and easy to work with, which is a bonus for architects, construction crews, and clients. It offers the benefits of natural light within an internal structure so that you enjoy daylight from the comfort of your living space or workspace. Why not choose the skylight roofing that you’ve always wanted?

You Can Have Confidence in Danpal Wall Cladding

Whether you’re building a simple cottage or an architectural masterpiece, the lifespan of your structure is going to depend on how effective it is in preventing weather from invading the interior space. That means that a building’s exterior has to be ready to engage in battle so that it can prevent the harmful effects of snow, rain, wind, hail, and sunlight from penetrating the interior. Wall cladding, which helps to protect your building’s insulation in order to keep moisture from causing damage, is a primary means of preventing insulation from being compromised.

That building that, right now, might be just in the design stage, is going to take its place in a physical location. You want that structure to last. So does Danpal, and that’s why we recommend that that you consider our wall cladding for your building. We’ve been leaders in the building industry for 50 years. We operate on five continents and have developed an international reputation that reflects our motto, Global Vision, Local Focus. Your satisfaction and the long life of your building, are our priorities.

Wall CladdingWall Cladding Protects Insulation

Human beings need shelter and so buildings are necessary. We work in them, we live in them, we are entertained in them. But buildings, if not properly constructed and maintained, can threaten the wellbeing of the planet. That’s because, in most IEA countries, buildings are responsible for the consumption of 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of primary energy. How does that work with today’s standards for sustainability? That depends on whether your building is energy efficient.

If energy is escaping from the inside of a structure, it’s costing you money. Your insulation is designed to keep your energy inside so that the temperatures that you set for heating and cooling are consistent. But if moisture has reached your insulation, energy efficiency cannot be maintained because your insulation can’t do its job properly. In other words, if you want to make sure that your building remains healthy for a long time, take the steps that are needed to provide your insulation with complete protection.

Danpal wall cladding uses a convective motion to keep insulation dry because of the natural ventilation that comes through an air gap. Connector-bound microcell polycarbonate sheets and double-notching are a line of defense to keep out the rain and snow that could allow moisture to seep into your building. If you can keep moisture out—and Danpal wall cladding can—you’re giving your insulation the protection that it needs to maintain your building’s health.

Customizable Wall Cladding

Instead of seeing a building design as something that has to follow a rigid pattern, Danpal likes to see originality. Our wall cladding enhances the appearance of a building because we offer such a variety of colors and designs to enable our clients to create a building, not just build it. Once the interior of your building has been designed so that the insulation is protected from harm, feel free to let loose with your creativity. Our panels are customizable up to 12.0m standard length to offer you plenty of personal choice.

Façade Materials: What a Difference Daylight Makes

You’d think it would be obvious: add daylight to the inside of a building for better lighting and enhanced atmosphere. It is obvious, but only Danpal has recognized how much daylight inside a building can transform a structure. With a half-century of experience in the building industry, Danpal has been a pioneer in daylighting techniques, holding fast to the belief that a well-designed building should offer as much natural light as possible. That’s why Danpal façade materials are such an advance in building products. Danpal, the first company to develop the Danpalon® translucent panel standing seam system, has three decades of experience in providing façade materials that are used all over the globe. Danpal proves that daylight travels well!

Façade MaterialsHow Daylighting Techniques Make a Difference in Façade Materials

Buildings are for people. Filling the living and working spaces with natural light gives people a workplace that’s more conducive to productivity because people are spending their day in a happier, healthier environment. Danpal’s philosophy is that developing solutions that meet visual, thermal, and energy needs should not exclude holistic benefits. Danpal feels that building designs should begin with an understanding of how the sun shapes our experience. Creating façade materials that follow through on this vison makes Danpal a leader in what we might describe as “user-friendly” buildings.

Knowing What There is to Know About Daylighting

The excitement that is created when daylight becomes part of the building toolkit has inspired a new perception about architecture. Natural light is regarded as usable square footage internally, which expands ways of capitalizing on the uses of the building project. What we’ve found is that light has a genuine effect on how people feel, think, and work. Imagine the possibilities if a building can actually be part of the wellness process that generates an improved attitude and sense of optimism.

Technology Shapes the Effectiveness of Danpal Façade Materials

Danpal façade materials are highly regarded for their ability to resist weather as well as for their support of daylighting techniques. Danpal’s Microcell technology has a double-click locking seam that promises higher load resistance, with a snap-lock connection system to make weather stay where it belongs, which is outside, not inside. The cell structure of the façade materials possess high-quality thermal insulation. This means that façade materials made by Danpal can fight back when weather is at its most destructive.

Another advantage to Danpal’s façade materials is the fact that they’re light in weight. This makes them easier to work with and to install. When a process is easier and simpler to accomplish, the end result means less money spent and less inconvenience experienced.

Façade Materials Create a More Beautiful Building

Daylighting is one of our most famous esthetic features, but it’s not the only one. Color is another way of making your building stand out. Whether you decide to layer different shades of color, or alternate dark and light colors, you’re giving your building the opportunity to show just how much façade materials expand your creative options. Knowing the community in which your building will be located is the first step in determining what your building’s appearance should be. A building with a contemporary look in a block of traditional structures will indeed stand out, but perhaps not in the way that you would like. With a little research, you can design the building that looks just right!

Danpal’s Roofing Systems Are Built To Last

When choosing a roofing system, don’t forget to consider the life span that you want your building to have. A roofing system is a key component in predicting a building’s length of life because the roofing system is so important in protecting the interior of a structure from the threat of weather damage. Danpal boasts roofing systems that are airtight and watertight and 100{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} leakproof. They’re lightweight and easy to install. They deliver a superior thermal performance, have high-impact resistance, and show off an impressive visual appearance. Our roofing systems have transparency and tonal qualities, flexibility, and a balance of light and thermal dynamics that’s superior in function. We’re eager to tell you more about our Danpal roofing systems and we know you’ll like what you’re hearing.

roofing systemRoofing Systems That Deliver Daylight

You might not expect a roof to be a primary source of natural light, but that’s because you may not know that Danpal is a pioneer in the art of daylighting techniques. The ribs of our roofing are made with tight spacing; this allows an impressive quality of light to come in, altering the appearance and improving the atmosphere of your internal building.

How Danpal Roofing Systems Work

Danpal roofing is a dry-glazed translucent system that can be installed either above or below different types of structures, depending upon the specific engineering and design requirements. The dry-glazed connectors are made of polycarbonate or aluminum, both renowned for their strength. Danpal’s Microcell technology is specifically designed to resist weather over the long term. On a day-to-day basis, a roofing system has to be able to take a beating because weather never lets up. It’s always doing something, and quite often, weather is doing something that’s going to lead to trouble in the future if your roofing system isn’t capable of preventing the damage. Regardless of whether your building is going to be located in a rain-drenched region or a place where winter deals out punishing snow and cold, Danpal roofing systems are ready for whatever comes out of the sky.

You can thank our Danpalon panels for strength that surpasses the ordinary roofing system’s ability to keep weather out. Because of this, the thermal insulation renders more efficiency with better “U” and “R” values. The long life that’s so important for a building is supported by the double-tooth connections that are particularly effective against weather.

Stricter regulations and a stronger adherence to environmental standards have had an effect on roofing. The “R” values of roofing insulation have almost tripled in recent decades. It’s a pleasure to notice how much of an effect we can have when we all work together on behalf of our planet. In the long run, quality makes the difference and that’s where Danpal stands out.

We don’t manufacture cheap, poorly made products. We’ve been in business for half a century and maybe that’s way longevity is so important to us. We understand that buildings should be built to last. That’s the way we make our products.

Skylight Roofing that Suits Your Personal Taste

The more light the better! That’s how most of us feel and Danpal is in complete agreement on that point. That’s why the company, which has been in the business of building for 50 years, has devoted considerable research into developing skylight roofing that satisfies the customer, withstands weather, and maintains environmental sustainability. Danpal’s dry-glaze, translucent systems are available in different designs to suit the dimensions of your building as well as your own personal tastes. The Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System is the ultimate in skylight roofing, delivering the perfect balance of light that works best in the workplace and living spaces.

Danpal Skylight Roofing: The Best that Technology Offers

Skylight RoofingBecause Danpal skylight roofing has to be light enough to be flexible but strong enough to handle different weather conditions, the product is naturally versatile. The system’s Microcell technology is what delivers the resistance to weather damage; it’s even resistant to the impact of hail! It’s compatible with all roofing types, so whether skylight roof is intended for metal or concrete, it’s going to be easy to install. Danpal roofing can be customized to suit your preference, so it comes in a wide range of sizes and lengths, another feature that makes installation easier. Another popular feature is the way that the panels slot onto place. With the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System’s ability to e beither self-supporting or placed over a metal structure with aluminum framing options, installation over varyingly sized spans is no problem.

Skylight Roofing and Weather

Weather and the forces of nature are a building’s natural enemy. But with the 100{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} watertight security of Danpal skylight roofing, buildings stay dry inside because rain and snow aren’t able to penetrate the exterior. The Danpavault System’s extended UV protection and thermal insulation save money for the customer by increasing the life span of the building because it has extra protection. The security of the panels also assures those inside that energy isn’t escaping from within.

Skylight Roofing and Appearance

Danpal knows that when a customer decides to install skylight roofing, the beauty of its appearance is a major reason for the decision. And why not? Who doesn’t like the advantages that natural light brings to the internal environment? Not only does skylight roofing bring the daylight indoors, but it creates an atmosphere of wellness that artificial lighting just can’t duplicate. The tight spacing between the ribs of the panels partners with the light for a look that’s as beautiful as it is comfortable. If you thought glass was transparent, wait until you see the skylight roofing panels, which, in addition to transparency, give you light and flexibility that glass can’t match.

Glass also can’t offer the range of colors that Danpal offers in its skylight roofing. Some people like the subtlety of shades of white, others prefer metallic or bold colors. Your roof will reflect your own preference and the result will be a building that’s unique, energy efficient, and durable. You’ll be very pleased with the results!

Use Facade Materials from Danpal to Build with Daylight

It’s no surprise that buildings which are constructed to incorporate natural light into the design have an advantage over the traditional structure that relies on artificial light for illumination. Natural light doesn’t just help us to see better; it also helps us feel better. Danpal’s facade materials show how cutting-edge technology and the ageless, timeless appeal of natural light can give a building the architectural edge.

How Light Architecture Works in Facade Materials

With glazed panels and tight spacing between the ribs, light is evenly diffused so that it’s exactly what the customer wants, not too much and not too little. The design is created so that the amount of light can be controlled. The integration of the conventional glazing can, depending upon preference, either reveal visual contrasts in the building or conceal a building’s less attractive features. Mother Nature provides the daylight, of course, but Danpal provides facade materials in a stunning array of colors. effects, finishes, and textures that architects enjoy working with. It’s a perfect match!

Facade MaterialsWeather Can’t Beat Danpal Facade Materials

No matter what season it is, the weather has quite an arsenal of weapons to challenge a building’s durability. What happens when it’s raining buckets? Or when there’s a heavy snowfall? What about wind? How about hail? You’re worried about leaks, impact, and damages, but with our facade materials, you don’t need to worry. The snap-lock connection system prevents air and moisture from penetrating the defenses of the facade materials. Microcell technology is designed to withstand the impact of hail. Danpal’s extended UV protections protects the building from the damage that sunlight can cause.

Facade Materials Boost Energy Efficiency

The question of a building’s energy efficiency is one that is on an architect’s mind well before he or she begins designing the structure. Danpals’s facade materials possess superior thermal insulation and improvements in the “V” and “R” values contribute as well to the overall high marks of the energy efficiency.

Facade Materials that are Easy to Work with

The strength and beauty of Danpal’s facade materials are so impressive that customers sometimes forget about the other advantages of the products. For example, the panels are very light in weight, which makes them so much easier to work with and install.

Danpal, which has been in the business for 50 years, has put its half century of experience to good use by emphasizing the importance of research and development. Operating on five continents, Danpal has five regional subsidiaries which contribute to the company’s state-of-the-art production process. That accounts for Danpal’s success in terms of its international market, but what’s just as important is the company’s commitment to global concerns. Paying attention to the environmental concerns that are a priority for today’s public has given Danpal an understanding of what customers want for the buildings in which they live and work. Our customers rely on us to deliver products that match their belief that a sustainable life is the best one for the generations to come. We build our buildings to last and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that our planet lasts too.

Rainscreen Cladding is Your Insulation’s Best Friend

Buildings are masters of the art of concealment. When you’re inside a building, you don’t see the structural aspects that hold it together. Whether you’re at work or at home, you’re perfectly content to see floors, walls, and ceilings and no more. When people pass by a building, all that’s on view is the exterior. Cladding is for the building what skin is for the body, showing the structure at its best angle and not how it looked when it was under construction. Cladding comes in different materials. If you want metal cladding, you can choose galvanized steel or aluminum. But metal isn’t the only option. You might prefer cladding in brick, wood, plastic, or imitation stone. Cladding has a functional purpose as well as a cosmetic one; the outside elements that could harm a building need to be kept out of the interior. When cladding does its job correctly, no moisture penetrates the protective membrane of the cladding. If your cladding is the Danpal Ventilated Rainscreen System, you already know that your building’s interior is safe from any invasive weather.

Rainscreen CladdingDanpal Ventilated Rainscreen System Is Watertight

By using Danpalon panels with the Ventilated Rainscreen (VRS) System, you are providing your building with superior protection for your insulation. Studies of energy efficiency indicate that in the world’s most developed nations, buildings are responsible for approximately 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the nation’s energy consumption. When you think of how important our physical location is to our lives, that’s probably not surprising. But if the building’s insulation isn’t dry, the energy that the building uses escapes and goes to waste, costing money and affecting the health of the environment. When the insulation is working the way it should be working, your central heating and air conditioning can also work as they’re supposed to without having to change the settings all the time. If you’re looking for a way to reduce your building’s carbon footprint (and who isn’t?), you can count on Danpal rainscreen cladding to keep your insulation in peak condition.

How Ventilated Rainscreen Systems Work

There are several factors that go into the superior performance of Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen System. The panels are made of Microcell polycarbonate, a product that is three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding, making them lighter and easier to work with. They’re double notched so that water can’t penetrate. The system employs an air gap whose convective motion behind the panels causes natural ventilation so that the insulation stays dry. Installation is easy because the connectors are made directly on the support itself, alleviating any need for additional framed structure support.

Rainscreen Cladding is the Attractive Option

Danpal VRS is the obvious choice in rainscreen cladding because of its performance. But it’s also the obvious choice because of its visual appeal. Danpal offers so many choices in color, textures, and finishes that choosing a cladding is a lot like selecting a wardrobe for your building. We all like to dress up now and again, but when it’s a building, it needs to look good all the time. With rainscreen cladding from Danpal, it will look great!

Polycarbonate Panels Are Today’s Choice in Building Material

The Danpal Difference in Building Quality

Fifty years is a long time for any company to remain a leader in its field. But for Danpal, the ability to maintain a cutting-edge reputation in the building industry reflects a tireless commitment to research, a profound respect for the needs of our customers, and an awareness of the manner in which the products that we manufacture and sell affect our environment. We must be doing something right because with a half-century of experience in delivering customer satisfaction over five continents, we’ve been able to stay at the head of the pack. One of the ways that we’ve stayed in the lead is by making use of innovative materials like polycarbonate panels, which are redefining the way buildings are designed.

Polycarbonate Panels are Stronger

Stronger than what, you ask? Well, polycarbonate panels are 200 times stronger than glass. But they’re only half as heavy! What this means is that when you choose to use polycarbonate panels for your design, you’re selecting a material that delivers more than glass but isn’t as cumbersome to work with. Because of its phenomenal strength, as well as its flexibility, polycarbonate is the panel of choice in guard materials used to move machinery parts, for farming machinery, windshields, and security screens.

Polycarbonate PanelsTypes of Polycarbonate Panels

Polycarbonate comes in two forms. There’s multiwall polycarbonate, a structured sheet with hollow air chambers; and solid polycarbonate, a flat, clear sheeting that looks like glass. Because both forms are popular as well as functionally superior, the final choice may depend on the visual appearance that is sought.

Polycarbonate Panels are Energy Efficient

Our modern world knows that the buildings that are constructed today have the potential to do great harm if they’re not made of materials that are environmentally friendly. But for customers, the product must still deliver in performance. You’ll love the energy efficiency that polycarbonate delivers: the panels in a ventilated rain system employ a special function that keeps the insulation dry and functioning to maximum effectiveness. That’s because of the gap in the system which provides natural ventilation. Dry insulation is insulation that can do its job without impediment. The panels last longer and the building benefits from the protection against damage.

Polycarbonate isn’t just energy efficient, it’s efficient, period! Light of weight and easy to install, the product is a favorite with architects and their clients because of the flexibility it offers. Less time to install means lower costs and less time needed for the job, a result that pleases everyone.

Polycarbonate is Daylight’s Partner

Danpal has become renowned for the remarkable way in which its products enhance the use of natural light. Polycarbonate is part of this daylight delivery service, especially as architects have fallen in love with its capabilities. An architect who recognizes the superior versatility of polycarbonate is one who knows how to match the prowess of the products he or she uses with the power of creativity. And with plenty of colors to choose from, you’ll be amazed at the options that are yours when you choose polycarbonate panels.

Facade Systems Bring Beauty, Sustainability and Durability to Your Building

Sometimes, the most modern building trends are so successful because they make use of something that’s been around well before architects started designing. We’re talking about natural light, of course, that element that can totally transform the appearance of a building. If you’re searching for a design that employs natural light in a way that no other construction method can, you should consider a facade system.

Facade Systems Build With Natural Light

Natural light doesn’t just enter a designed building without careful advance planning. The architect who designs a building deliberately considers the placement of the light by accommodating the angles where the sunlight will appear in the structure at various times during the day. By tapping into the bounty of natural light, that wonderful resource that is available virtually on demand, the architect channels its beautify and its usefulness into a well-planned design.

Facade SystemsThe Strength of Facade Systems

A facade system will bring a level of beauty to your building that other exteriors can’t match. But at the same time, facade systems are durable. They have to be if they’re going to protect a building from the impact of weather. Rain, snow, wind, hail, and even sun all have the power to weaken and damage the structure over time. But facade systems are designed with strength in mind so that they stand up to everything that Mother Nature can send. Different climates will call for different facade systems; what works for a building in a hot, sunny region won’t suit a building in a damp, rainy location. But the versatility of facade systems means that there’s one that’s just right for you.

Facade Systems Are More Popular Than Ever

Buildings have specific functions that require conforming to the template of the structure’s purpose. A gymnasium isn’t going to have the same purpose as a library, and the two buildings won’t be identical. Any building needs to meet certain regulations and codes and as environmental issues have become more of a universal concern, these requirements are reflected in the way buildings are designed and constructed. Facade systems please the public because their energy efficiency is a vital part of the sustainable life style that people practice.

But there’s one area where codes and rules aren’t the driving force behind the design and that is in the creativity that facade systems unleash. If you’re bored by the way so many buildings seem to be designed with a cookie-cutter format, each one looking the same as the one before it, you’re going to appreciate the unbelievable freedom that facade systems offer. With facade systems, the function of a building doesn’t trap it inside a boring format that just repeats what everyone else is building. Functionality is vital for any building, but it doesn’t need to inhibit the potential of a structure to be visually appealing. Danpal’s facade systems allow a structure to perform its intended function while nurturing the people who work and live inside it.

Every building, whatever its intended purpose, is part of a neighborhood and that neighborhood is a community. People who go about their daily business are uplifted when they have the opportunity to enjoy beauty that improves the environment in a holistic way. By choosing a Danpal facade system, you’re making your part of the world a better place.

Your Skylight Roof Lets the Sunshine in

Light is what a skylight is all about and Danpal understands that a skylight roof adds so much to the appeal of a home or building. A skylight roof is a wonderful way to invite the daylight inside a structure so that everyone benefits from the way natural light makes us feel. Some people hesitate when deciding whether or not to add a skylight roof because they worry about its ability to withstand adverse weather. But rest assured that a Danpal skylight roof is designed with durability in mind, something for which our company, which has been creating and installing innovative roofing systems for the last 50 years, can be counted on. Built to last, built to perform, that’s what Danpal products add to construction.

Skylight RoofSkylight Roofs Deliver the Sun and Strength

A skylight roof is the architectural way to have the best of both worlds: the comfort of the inside with the natural illumination from outside. There are economic benefits to this blend as well; Danpal skylight roofs offer both thermal and solar comfort, and they do so without cutting corners on structural endurance. Danpal skylight roofs are made with microcell technology to enhance their ability to withstand damage from rough weather, even from hail. Thanks to a 100{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} watertight composition, rain isn’t going to compromise the integrity of your skylight roof. The rain can’t get inside. Knowing that your skylight roof provides the ultimate in protection from the rough weather conditions makes it easier for you to enjoy the wonderful abundance of natural light that a skylight roof gives you. Imagine spending quality time in a building that invites just the right amount of illumination, under the most ideal of conditions, into your day. In addition, the skylight roof delivers extended UV protection for added defense from the powerful rays of the sun. That’s what the Danpavault system promises.

Skylight Roofs Bring Versatility

If you’re skeptical about a skylight roof and you think it might make the construction process too complicated, think again. Our Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight Roof System is tailored for versatility. Because our panels come in unlimited lengths, they’re easily integrated into position. The flexibility of the panels makes them easy to install without needing extra effort or labor. The versatility of Danpal engineering connects the unbounded creativity of the architect with the built-in flexibility of the product. Not needing extra effort or work to make the perfect building is liberating for an architect, allowing him to focus on what the building will look like at completion rather than on what reductions he needs to make in order to meet a budget. Budgets love Danpal products because so much more is offered for the money.

Building for Style with Facade Materials

Façade Materials Inspired by Style

If you’re on a quest to find something new in building materials, inspirations for exciting and innovative designs are as close as the nearest housing development. Before you lock yourself into the monotony of designing a building that looks like every other one, why not take a ride around the area to see what’s being built around you? You’ll be amazed to find the range that is available, particularly if you’re in a neighborhood where there’s a building that’s made out of façade materials. Never mind the same, boring old structure that’s build out of the same old boring materials. Danpal façade materials, because of the amazing array of colors that is offered, give a house a dazzling look. If it’s hard to imagine a building that delivers a sense of style, you’re in for a treat, because facade materials deliver remarkable, unique beauty.

Facade Materials are a Smart Economic Investment

Facade MaterialsHowever, facade materials aren’t just esthetically attractive. Façade materials offer one of the most versatile investments that can be made in the housing field. The unique cell structure of Danpal facades generates superior thermal insulation that significantly enhances a building’s energy efficiency. The Microcell structure of the panels offers the highest possible resistance to damage caused by hail and impact. This resistance is maintained despite the light weight of the materials, which gives them an impressive lifetime of service. Thanks to the snap-lock connection system, air and water aren’t able to penetrate the building’s exterior. The building enjoys higher load resistance as a result of the high security offered by the double “click” locking seam. With the top quality of its co-extended UV protection, the facade materials deliver a longer life. Installation is quick and simple, making the overall price cost effective for your budget.

Facade Materials Have Style

The novelty of living and working in a building that reflects its own unique image has made facade materials a dynamic form of architectural self expression. The colors that you choose will depend on personal preference and the style of the structure’s design. Also, it’s a good idea to choose colors that are easy to clean. Remember that facade materials give you a versatility that other traditional materials lack. You can use different shades of a particular color to produce a layering effect that creates an impression of depth. Or, if you want to make a statement, you can opt for a bold look that contrasts darks and lights along with different textures.

The building needs to create harmony within its surroundings. That’s easy with facade materials; you can choose enhancements such as columns, feature lighting, and brick stacks so that your structure stands out.

Facade Materials and Light

Natural light is an inherent feature of facade materials, much more so than it is in buildings that are designed from a traditional material. Thanks to the glazing panel’s unique structure, natural light is evenly diffused. Because of a design that’s created with architectural daylight applications in mind, the tight spacing between the ribs of the panels produces an appearance that appeals to the esthetic senses.

Esthetics, affordability, durability and efficiency are all hallmarks of façade systems. Take a look at what’s in store for you!

Translucent Facade for a Strong, Flexible, Attractive Building Exterior

Translucent Façade for a Stronger Exterior

When we think of a construction product, we start out with an image of an architect creating the design for a building that fulfills the purpose for which it was intended. Our next scene tends to be that of the construction site: heavy machinery and workers in hard hats, laboring in a noisy setting. Finally, we see the building rising where once there was nothing. It all seems so easy.

The truth is that a building is a much more complicated enterprise and every detail must be considered before the architect even begins to create the model. That’s one of the reasons why Danpal’s translucent facade exteriors are the smart choice for a building. Danpal has already done a lot of the preliminary work because the company’s research has created products that are specifically manufactured for particular needs. A building, before a single nail is hammered into place, has a location. If that location is in a rainy climate, the building material must be watertight to prevent leaks. If the building is going up in a landscape that’s prone to high winds, the structure must be able to absorb the impact. Lots of sunlight can be just as powerful a foe to a building as the rain, and we haven’t even mentioned snow or hail yet. But you get the idea. The architect isn’t the first one on the scene when it comes to designing a building. Danpal is, because their expert engineers and specialists have already researched and vetted the materials that will be chosen for construction.

Translucent FacadeTranslucent Façade: More Powerful than Weather

You’ve heard people say that there’s no use complaining about the weather because there’s nothing we can do about it. While it’s true that no one can stop the rain from falling or tame a wild wind, there are ways to defend a building so that it can withstand weather.

There’s weather, and then there’s Danpal weather-resistant translucent facade. Danpal’s translucent facades won’t fail you because Danpal’s reputation is built upon producing materials that last for decades. You won’t have to worry about cracks, scuffs and breaks showing up a few years after the building is completed because Danpal translucent facades are durable. Weather can’t be altered, but translucent facades don’t surrender to it.

Translucent Facade for Flexibility

Danpal delivers the strength. Danpal also delivers translucent facades that are nimble enough to allow freedom when meeting the design specifications. Danpal has managed to achieve that exquisite balance between strength and flexibility thanks to the translucent facades that deliver the best of both worlds.

The Beauty of Translucent Facade

Last, but certainly not least, the esthetics of translucent façade blend the strength of the exterior with the flexibility to create a final effect that makes a building worth looking at. It lasts a long time because Danpal’s products are designed for long-term effectiveness. It’s flexible because the ease of installation shapes the façade to match the esthetic preferences of the client.

Protection and beauty all in one eye-catching, enduring exterior; that’s what you get when you choose translucent facade for your building project.

Rainscreen Cladding Saves Buildings from Weather Damage

Depend on Rainscreen Cladding for Weather Protection for Your Building

The next time you’re listening to the weather report on the evening news, take a minute to go outside and take a look at your home or office. When we hear that it’s going to rain or that there’s snow in the forecast, our first thought is what we should wear to accommodate the weather. But a building’s wardrobe is a lot different than ours. Rainscreen cladding is a building’s version of an umbrella, designed to protect the structure from the external moisture that could damage the interior if it gets inside. Rain is the number one culprit when there’s exterior damage to a building, and that’s why you need to install rainscreen cladding.

Rainscreen Cladding The Protection of Rainscreen Cladding

Rainscreen cladding is made up of a ventilated cavity, an outer panel, and an internal sheet. There’s a gap between the cladding and the exterior of the building which prevents moisture the moisture caused by rain and snow from seeping into the wall. The double-notched panels keep everything watertight to prevent the rain from invading. Likewise, the overhangs and screens are extremely effective at halting the rainwater from entering at all. The effectiveness of Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen System is based upon its connector-bound Microcell polycarbonate panels, which are three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding.

Saving Money with Rainscreen Cladding

The rainscreen cladding is a money-saver in a number of ways. The ventilation system, by enhancing the efficiency of the building’s insulation, saves on energy costs. When moisture gets inside a building, it can eventually lead to structural problems lie mold, corrosion, high levels of permeability and weakened insulation that’s much less effective. By the time the problem is detected, the damage may be so pronounced that repair and replacement costs are going to be high. Because rainscreen cladding is so easy to install, there’s less time involved in the process, which means that less of your money is spent on the installation process. And because the process is so efficient, there’s minimal disruption to the people who are working inside the building. Here’s something else that will bring a smile to your wallet. If, for some reason, the building is slated for demolition in the future, the cladding can be reused. You can’t get much more sustainable than that!

Rainscreen Cladding Improves a Building’s Appearance

Rainscreen cladding, by preventing the development of problems that arise when moisture leaks into a building, does a great deal to keep the structure maintaining its appearance. But rainscreen cladding is like a 24/7 spa treatment for a building throughout its existence, keeping it looking new and well maintained. Danpal offers many customizable options to choose from, and the variety of colors, textures, and finishes ensures that the building will possess its own unique look, which is an ideal way to establish your identity in the area.

But there’s another way that your building is going to establish its identity. It’s the building that withstands the elements and the test of time, thanks to the protection of its rain screen cladding.

Cubby House Challenge

Grimshaw is one of five practices selected to design and build a cubby for the Kids Under Cover 2017 Cubby House Challenge. The five cubbies were auctioned at a VIP event at the 2017 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, raising AUD$162,000 for the Kids Under Cover’s Studio Program, an early intervention strategy which helps to prevent youth homelessness.

MySpace, the cubby designed by Grimshaw, fetched AUD$21,000 and was the recipient of the Kids Choice Award, and the Most Imaginative and Interactive Award. We are honoured to have been a part of the 2017 Cubby House Challenge.

Cubby HouseThrough MySpace, Grimshaw has reconceptualised the traditional cubby, transforming the rigid building form into one that allows children to create their own space by manipulating various sized blocks across four levels. How they enter the cubby and arrange the interior is up to them – it is a non-static space that children can make their own and reinvent as they desire.

The moveable blocks have multiple uses to reinforce this sense of ownership and flexibility. They can be used to fill voids or provide openings, as furniture or storage and to house secret treasures and trinkets.

Two key workshops were held to develop the concept for MySpace. The first invited children to contribute their ideas of what constitutes the ultimate cubby. A space for flexibility, creativity and retreat were recurring themes, with orange a popular choice of colour.

The second workshop was a design charrette which offered Grimshaw’s architects the opportunity to recall their childhood cubby house dreams. The ideas were harnessed into a single concept with a strong connection to one of the architect’s memories of playing with the wooden crates in his father’s fruit and vegetable warehouse; crates were positioned to create voids to hide in or used as stepping stones to create a flexible oasis akin to a human-scale Lego set.

Cubby HouseThis concept was developed through the ethos of Grimshaw’s architectural practice; strong conceptual legibility, innovation and a rigorous approach to detailing, all underpinned by the principles of humane, enduring and sustainable design.
In turn, MySpace has been realized as a bespoke shelter which encourages confidence and creative play while offering a finely crafted installation fit for the most urbane of backyards.

Conceived as an elegant piece of joinery, the cubby’s frame has been built using 75mmx75mm Tasmanian Oak hardwood timber beams. Each member has been machine cut and routed to form a cross profile that integrates horizontal rails, allowing the boxes to be safely and easily maneuvered. With each member dowelled and glue joined to form a rigid connection there are no visible fixings. This ensures that the frame can facilitate safe vertical and horizontal movement and provide railings that may be easily held on to by small hands. Rubber matting is incorporated in the floor as a further safety measure.

The boxes within the cubby are fabricated from pine plywood. Each box is wrapped in high density foam, then covered with an external-grade colored fabric.

With a translucent polycarbonate (Danpal) roof and façade, MySpace provides a shelter which offers children a sense of concealment while providing visibility to the outside. The polycarbonate cladding system provides a clean façade finish by concealing all screw fixings. To complement the notion of a safe hideout, a yellow periscope peaks out from the roof to allow children to keep watch and observe their surroundings. Page 1 of 2 Lighting is another key feature of the cubby. Our design incorporates LED strip lighting into each internal corner of the frame to illuminate the interior and allow the cubby to ‘glow’ at night.

Grimshaw has worked closely and collaboratively with the builder and suppliers to deliver a cubby that is of the highest quality while offering a reconfigurable space to keep children intrigued – a true team effort for the benefit of the children that may make MySpace their own as well as those whom it may prevent youth homelessness for.

Architect’s Statement

Cubby House 6There was always something exciting about creating your own cubby house as a kid. Whether stacking cushions from the family sofa, draping bed sheets over the ironing board or arranging cardboard boxes to form enclosures, it allowed a sense of freedom to create and play, to be the master of one’s own universe.

This freedom of creative play is actively explored with MySpace, a cubby house designed by Grimshaw for Kids Under Cover, a not-for-profit organization which raises funds to help prevent youth homelessness.

Through MySpace we have reconceptualised the cubby, transforming the rigid building form into one that allows children to create their own space by manipulating various sized blocks over three levels. How they enter the space and arrange the interior is up to them – it is a space they can make their own and reinvent as they desire.

The moveable blocks have multiple uses to reinforce this sense of ownership and flexibility. They can be used to fill voids or provide openings, as furniture or storage and to house miniature gardens.

Two key workshops were held to develop the concept for MySpace. The first invited children to contribute their ideas of what constitutes the ultimate cubby. A space for flexibility, creativity and retreat were recurring themes, with orange a popular choice of colour.

The second workshop was an in-house design charrette offering our architects the opportunity to recall their own childhood cubby house dreams. In keeping with Grimshaw’s architectural practice, the cubby was developed from a strong concept, with the final design resulting from a deep interest in adaptable and flexible architecture and craftsmanship.

MySpace encapsulates childhood aspirations as well as a desire to empower children through their own creative play.

Choosing the Right Roofing System for Your Project

The Right Roofing System Starts at the Top

When designing a building, one of the most important assessments to make is deciding on the roofing system that is best. With more than half a century in the business of building, Danpal has seen a lot of roofing come and go, and the company’s experience and expertise can make your decision-making a lot easier. Danpal is on the cutting edge of the latest innovations in construction and we’re constantly improving our existing products. Over the years, we’ve developed a roofing system that is both fundamentally sound and energy efficient, as well as esthetically attractive.

Roofing SystemFactors to Consider in Choosing Your Roofing System

An architect surveys his plans like a commander overseeing a battle map. What are the strengths of the opponent? What are the weaknesses of the building? What is the best tactic to defeat the enemy? The roof is the main barrier between the interior of a building and its exterior, and the roof is under constant, daily attack from a formidable enemy. One of the most powerful enemies that a building faces is weather. There’s no escaping it: a roof has no force shield to keep the rain and snow from falling, the wind from blowing, the hail from bombarding, or the sun from beating down. But a roofing system must be able to withstand all of these powerful elements if it is to stand firm against deterioration. Many of us have noticed more and more episodes of extreme weather, as storms in both winter and summer seem to be more potent. These are the factors that remind us of how important it is to choose a roof that is built to last and to protect against weather at its worst.

A Roofing System’s Appearance

Danpal can provide the roofing system that you’re looking for, whether your design is modern or traditional. The design of a roofing system also matters, because it significantly affects the building’s ultimate appearance. The color, texture, and type of roofing all need to be in harmony with the overall style of the building, including its exterior look and finish. The design needs to blend together; clashing styles make the entire building appear to have been rushed to completion without forethought for how it would look when it was actually constructed.

Roofing and the Environment

As regulations become stricter, new rules are re-defining the kinds of roofing systems that can be used, particularly with regard to coatings, sealants, and adhesives. Recent decades have witnessed a dramatic evolution in the kinds of roofing materials available, thanks to technological advances. While traditional materials remain popular, newer materials such as polycarbonate are rapidly becoming the favorite because of their durability, flexibility, and their energy efficiency. As the environment has become more of a concern, the move to use environmentally friendly materials has rapidly gained momentum. At Danpal, we know that your roof is part of your building, and your building is part of the wider world. Keeping everything in balance is what makes a building a success.

Facade Systems are the Popular Trend That’s Built to Last

Escape the Same Old Design with Facade Systems

When you first decided to enter the design field, there’s a good chance that you did so because you wanted to give your imagination free rein. You didn’t want to be locked into the same tired old traditional building styles. You wanted to create structures that fulfilled the function of a building, but without neglecting the beauty that brings a design out of the cookie-cutter assembly line of boring sameness. That’s why facade systems, the popular trend in building, have become so popular with designers and clients alike. They maintain the functionality of a building, but they are able to stay true to their purpose without ignoring the fact that a building can be a source of inspiration for the people who live and work within it, and an enhancement to the neighborhood.

FACADE SYSTEMsWhy Facade Systems are the Smarter Building Choice

Transparent facade systems aren’t just a building’s pretty face. They’re actually its protective armor because they offer superior protection from the weather and high-impact resistance, along with optimal thermal dynamics. Weather rules the outside world and a building that’s constructed well needs to be able to stand up to whatever comes out of the sky. You’ll be amazed by how the quality of a facade system endures for years without needing to be replace. The energy efficiency and durability of facade systems make them the smart choice; our Danpal framed facade is one of the most popular options for buildings.

Keep in mind that facade systems aren’t one-size-fits-all for buildings. The type of façade that you select needs to suit the climate of the region where the building will be located. If you’re building in an area with an abundance of rain and wind, the facade system will have different specifications than a system that’s designed for a sunny climate. Another factor to consider is the style of the building. The façade systems should blend with the right facade, so that they complement one another. Otherwise, an ill-suited choice could ruin the overall effect. When you’re building with a facade system, you have so many more options for color, finishes, and special effects that you want to make sure that everything is just right.

Facade Systems and Light

Perhaps the most popular feature of a facade system is the way that it makes use of natural light. Your design should accommodate the angles at which the sunlight will strike the building at different times during the day, so that you can adjust for it. Factoring this into your calculations gives you the freedom to immediately improve the quality of the building’s interior with natural light.

If you’ve never thought about the wonderful opportunities for creativity that are yours when natural light is included in your design, you’re in for an amazing revelation. Natural light isn’t usually categorized as a building material, but translucent facades have changed the rules for design. Imagine the originality that you can work with when the pattern of light on your building façade comes from nature and your inspiration.

Skylight Roof Weather Protection

Once the skylight is in place, there can be no doubt that it will be up to the challenge of resisting the weather. We’ve created our skylight roof systems to be completely watertight, relieving you of any need to worry about leaks. And if you’re concerned that your skylight roof is more vulnerable than a standard roof, rest assured that the built-in strength comes from microcell technology, which empowers an impressively high level of resistance to damage caused by hail and other extreme weather conditions. The microcell technology keeps the skylight roof strong when weather strikes.

You Choose the Color of the Skylight Roof

One of the most popular features of our skylight roof is the range of colors that we offer for all of our products. Whether your preference is for shades of white, metallics, or bold and brilliant colors, the hardest decision you make might just be which one, from so many possibilities, is the right one for your skylight roof.

U Panels are not the Panels for You

Consider the Building in Which We LIve

What do you expect from a building? The question isn’t as strange as it seems. When you think about it, nearly every aspect of our lives depends in some way upon buildings. We live in homes, we work in offices, schools, stores, hospitals and other structures; we shop for groceries, we go to the car dealership for a new automobile, we eat in restaurants and dance in clubs. Except for those hardy types who thrive in the great outdoors, most of us spend the most significant parts of our lives in buildings, often without giving them a second thought.

Danpal is encouraging you to give those buildings a few more thoughts. Imagine the 21st century if we still used outdated architectural practices and outmoded technology from the previous era. Imagine if, instead of using polycarbonate panels, we still opted to use metal U-panels? It’s hard to imagine why anyone would step back in time when construction has advanced so far ahead. But in case you have a building project and you’re still making up your mind about which materials to use, we’ll explain why polycarbonate panels have become the favorite choice of designers, engineers, architects, clients, and Planet Earth.

U PanelsThe Advantages of Polycarbonate Standing Seam Panels

We live in a period of time when buildings are designed to be in harmony both locally and globally. That focus mirrors the Danpal motto, Global Vision, Local Focus. Polycarbonate standing seam panels are designed to maintain that atmosphere because they conform to the standards of a sustainable environment. Polycarbonate is a tough and durable material so that it can withstand rough weather, but it’s also flexible and easy to work with. Its high-impact resistance prevents hail from doing damage, yet its transparency to visible light allows it to provide much better transmission than glass can. Polycarbonate panels are so versatile that they’ve left glass and metal U panels behind in the race to the top for best building material.

Polycarbonate Standing Seam Panels Specialize in Energy Efficiency

As the world becomes more conscious of the need to take better care of our planet, the momentum for sustainable living has captured the enthusiasm of the building industry. That’s why polycarbonate standing seam panels are so popular with people who care about the environment. The great news about that is that saving the environment also means saving money on energy costs, because polycarbonate is a material that provides high-quality insulation.

Polycarbonate Standing Seam Panels Win the Beauty Contest

If building materials were competing in a beauty pageant, it’s obvious that polycarbonate would easily defeat metal U panels and glass. That’s not just because polycarbonate standing seam panels are modern, strong and efficient. Danpal’s polycarbonate panels are designed with beauty in mind. Why choose boring metal or glass for your building when you can have daylight, color, translucence and reflections? Polycarbonate standing seam panels win the crown; metal U panels and glass are only runner-up.

Curtain Wall Systems Provide Protection and Individuality for Your Building

What You Need to Know About Curtain Wall Systems

Danpal’s reputation has been so firmly established on the strength of our structural products that some people might not realize that we also produce curtain wall systems, which although not structural, have a lot to do with keeping your building in good condition. Like our other Danpal products, curtain wall systems have both a protective and an esthetic purpose. That’s because curtain wall systems are placed over your building exterior for that added layer of protection against weather damage. Installing a curtain wall system is a good idea, and we’ll tell you why.

Curtain Wall SystemsCurtain Wall Systems: A Building’s First Line of Defense

In order for a building to last, it has to be able to withstand the damaging effects of weather, which, day by day, inflicts heat, rain, wind, and snow upon the structure. When designing a building, architects pay a lot of attention to the best products that offer the most protection against the outdoor elements. We’re very proud to say that Danpal, because our curtain wall systems utilize microcell technology for its extremely high impact resistance, consistently comes out at the top of the list for delivering the protection that buildings need. So, while you’re inside, don’t worry when the rain pours, the wind howls, the snow falls, and the hail strikes, because your building is protected.

Installing Curtain Wall Systems for Added Security

Danpal’s curtain wall systems come with a double click locking seam, so that everything is secure and capable of handling a high-load resistance. It’s a simple but effective process that not only ensures the security of the curtain wall system, but also makes installations much quicker and much less cumbersome.

Lightweight Materials Make Curtain Wall Systems Easy to Work With

Danpal engineering has developed a material that is lightweight, flexible, and strong. The lightweight aspect of the curtain wall systems makes it easy to transport and work with, making the building process easier for everyone. The strength of the system is an inherent feature of Danpal products. Because the joints are concealed, the exterior remains flush so that it can be shaped to conform to the design.

Danpal Curtain Wall Systems Deliver Versatility of Appearance

Customization takes on an entirely new level of personalization when we’re talking about Danpal curtain wall systems. That’s because we offer so many different color options, along with finishes and special effects, that your curtain wall system will create exactly the image that you have in mind. The nature of construction requires a building to conform to certain codes, specifications and functions, but when it comes to color, the only limitation is your own imagination. We have options to keep it simple, if that’s what you prefer. Or, if your building design is intended to reflect a certain attitude, color is a wonderful way to be noticed. At Danpal, we regard color choices as an adventure. We have soothing, muted shades that will easily blend into the location of your building, along with bright, bold colors that will get noticed. We’ll work with whatever choice you make so that, in the end, the building communicates through its appearance and we want to help you deliver your message.

Translucent Facades: Building with Nature in Mind

Fighting the Harmful Effects of Weather with Translucent Facades

Take a look around at the buildings in your city or town. Notice anything? You probably can’t detect the slow, steady damage that weather is causing to the buildings that we see every day. There’s no way to shield a building from the effects of the sun, the rain, or the wind. Buildings are located outside; that means that they have to expect to take the punishment that weather dishes out. But that doesn’t mean that nature has the upper hand. Translucent facades are the expert way to answer the challenge that nature poses and deliver a building product that endures. Not only that, but translucent facades know how to make the most of the daylight, bringing the best of the day into the building while shielding those inside from its negative effects.

How do Translucent Facades Protect Buildings from Nature

Translucent FacadesA translucent façade creates a seal so that water and air can’t penetrate. The façade’s durability makes it strong enough to withstand the punishing impact of hail and anything else that nature sends its way. Its flexibility with regard to the changing temperature of a building allow the translucent façade to expand in the heat and contract in the cold.

Building Daylight into the Translucent Façade

Now that we’ve told you how translucent facades protect a building from the harmful effects of nature, let us explain to you how our product can actually work with and enhance the natural environment. The benefits of sunlight are familiar to all of us. Not only does capitalizing on the natural light ease energy costs in buildings, but there’s a more personal benefit as well. Incorporating light into public buildings helps to create a positive atmosphere on the people within as they work, conduct their business, and interact with one another. A translucent façade uses daylight as one of its core building materials.

Why Translucent Facades are Better than Glass

Glass windows, although they allow daylight to enter, also let in the glare. Depending on the time of the day, often at daybreak or at dusk, the lower angles of the sun’s rays can be piercing in rooms where the windows face east or west.

That’s why large glass windows on one side of a room aren’t the solution. Flooding the space with uncontrolled bright light increases the level of heat in the room as well. Glass windows need blinds, shades, or curtains in order to minimize the adverse effects of the light; the result is often a room that’s much darker than it needs to be in order to reduce the penetrating glare from outside. There’s a cost factor to this as well, especially in warmer climates where the reduction in energy expense is cancelled by the air conditioning that’s needed to compensate for the excessive solar gain. Ironically, even in the winter, glass fails to offer satisfaction in energy efficiency, because the heat that comes in from outside during the day also escapes during the night.

If you’re looking for a building product that’s efficient, economical, and pleasing to the eye, consider translucent facades and bring in the daylight.

Polycarbonate Panels by Danpal – 50 years of innovation

At Danpal®, we’ve spent 50 years perfecting walls, and we’ve found a formula for doing it that combines energy efficiency, environmental safety, financial feasibility and esthetic appeal, all key components for any client assessing the best building model. A relatively new innovation in the building market is the development of polycarbonate panels, which are now replacing traditional building materials.

In the past, polycarbonate panels cost too much and weren’t very energy efficient. Not much of a bargain, right? Fortunately, that has changed, making the polycarbonate panels a tremendously popular arrival in the building community. In the old days, builders relied upon toughened glass and polyethylene membrane. But polycarbonate panels are a perfect blend of high-impact strength, frame resistance, UV protection, light transmission, and anti-drop. All that, and beautiful too!

Polycarbonate PanelsWhy Polycarbonate Panels are So Popular?

Half as heavy as glass but just as translucent, clear polycarbonate is much easier to transport and to install. According to studies, the strength of polycarbonate sheeting and paneling is approximately 200 times that of standard glass, and up to 20 times the strength of tempered glass. Is it any wonder that polycarbonate panels have become the preferred option for buildings that face significant exposure to the toughest conditions that weather can dish out?

How Danpal® Uses Polycarbonate Panels?

Polycarbonate panels thrive in the Danpal® setting because we have top-of-the-line systems that use the panels to optimum effect. Check out our specially designed rainscreen system that preserves the integrity of the insulation for a long time because it’s entirely, reliably, waterproof. Architects love polycarbonate panels because their flexibility means that they can be used in so many different forms. Professionals in the building field can devise innovative, highly functional designs that transform the structures they’re creating.. It’s easy to cut, for one thing, which saves effort. Anything that saves effort ends up saving on cost as well.

Your energy bills already tell you how important it is to keep the costs down. Well, polycarbonate panels are high-quality insulators, something that means a lot both in terms of budgets and also the environment. In a world where carbon footprints take up a lot of space, everyone is going for a trim tread on the planet.

How Polycarbonate Panels Work with Ventilation?

When you think about it, it’s really obvious. The Danpal® sysem actually protects the insulation from the external threats by capitalizing on the natural ventilation in the façade that results from the air gap. Behind the panels, there’s a constant convective motion going on. That keeps the insulation dry and efficient, even as time goes on.

Lookin’ Good with Danpalon® Panels

We tend to focus on the efficiency and cost-savings features of our panels, but we can’t ignore the beauty that they create. That beauty comes in a lot of options. With our company’s translucent range, the appearance of the building alters with the light and the reflections that project onto the façade at different times during the day. If you have bright colors accompanied by a metallic, lacquered look, you’ll want to choose the opaque panels that are available in an amazing range of tints. With our bicolor option, you can adapt your facades to the desired effect, inside and out. You choose the colors you want, and we make it happen.

Main benefits of Danpal’s Rainscreen Cladding – VRS System

Cladding is the skin of a building, designed to prevent outside weather from coming inside. Human skin conceals the arteries, blood vessels, bone and tissue that do the work of the physical body, and likewise, cladding presents a building’s attractive exterior rather than exposing the construction materials and spaces that are the inner workings of the structure. But there’s a difference: a little bit of rain or wind is okay for the body. That’s not the case for a building, which has to be constructed so that water and air remain outside where they belong. The DANPAL® VRS Ventilated Rainscreen System is our company’s weather protection for your building.

Rainscreen CladdingWhat is the DANPAL® Ventilated Rainscreen System?

DANPAL® VRS provides a full system to incorporate our Danpalon® panels so that you can be confident that your insulation is fully protected from the outside elements. The natural ventilation makes use of an air gap so that convective motion behind the panels keeps your insulation dry while maintaining its efficiency.

What are the Benefits of the DANPAL® Ventilated Rainscreen System?

Wall cladding and VRS system by Danpal

Wall cladding is the best solution for builders and individuals who want to ensure their property remains in good condition. Many homes and offices are built with cladding these days because it offers countless benefits to the owners. In this article, we will discuss some of the advantages and try to explain the VRS system.

Wall claddingWe hope this information will encourage more people to try our products this year. At the end of the day, if people plan to build a new construct or replace cladding, they need to choose a premium solution.

  • Protection from damp and extreme weather

Adverse weather conditions can damage a property and create the need for expensive repairs. However, our VRS ventilated system can stop that from happening. The cladding sits on the outside of the building and helps to protect the wood or brickwork. It offers ventilation that contributes towards guaranteeing mold doesn’t begin to form. It also provides a barrier between the weather and the house. Our products can withstand the extremes of heat and cold, and they last for many years. Making an investment now could mean property owners and development companies save a fortune in the future.

  • A lightweight and environmentally-friendly solution

Our wall cladding is lightweight, and its use doesn’t harm the environment. That is a big advantage for people who are concerned about their impact on the planet. Indeed, there is no waste at all, and so cladding is better than alternative solutions. Some people choose to tile in the hope of encouraging the same benefits. However, that is the wrong choice because tiles break and require constant replacements. Their production could also cause environmental issues. So, conscientious property owners will always select our VRS system.

  • Fast and easy installation

It’s possible to install wall cladding on an entire property in a matter of days. The product can last for many years, and so owners won’t have to repeat the process for a long time. While it’s an easy procedure, people should always employ the assistance of professionals. It’s a cost-effective job that will pay for itself in no time. On top of that, all our panels come with an unparalleled choice of colors and designs. So, there is something for everyone, regardless of their tastes or requirements. Danpal® VRS is made of connector-bound Microcell polycarbonate panels. They are three times lighter than the traditional rainscreen cladding.

For more than thirty years, we developed state of the art light and thermal systems for architecture. Our team has a broad range of knowledge and expertise. That is why Danpal® has become market leader in this industry. No job is too big, and no job is too small. Clients just have to get in touch to discuss their requirements. Our specialists will then offer advice and recommendations. We’ll also talk clients through each step of the purchasing and installation process. Our firm operates out of five different continents, and we have great global distribution channels.

What exactly is translucent facade?

There seems to be confusion in some circles relating to the translucent facade, and it’s purpose. Considering that, we wanted to release a blog post that will set the record straight. We’ll highlight the type of professionals who might use the product, and some of the benefits they can expect. Hopefully, this post will encourage more people to make better use of the solution. As you will learn, it can add alluring design elements to any building while also providing structural advantages.

So what is a translucent facade?

translucent facadeTranslucent facades are glazing panels used on the exterior of buildings. They help to protect the construct from weather damage, damp, and erosion. They come in a broad range of different colors and styles to suit every job. Many architects use them to improve the aesthetics of their design. By fixing them in place, it’s possible to hide unsightly building elements and create the perfect finish to any property. The products can assist in protecting people from harmful UV rays. They also ensure maximum thermal conduction. Individuals who use them will notice a reduction in energy bills because they use the sun’s natural light to heat and illuminate buildings.

So what are some of the other benefits?

We already mentioned that a translucent facade could help to protect buildings from weather damage. That is because the product creates a seal that stops penetration by water and air. They are also durable, and so they can withstand impact from hail and other unwanted elements. The materials offer super flexibility, and that is why they can last for many years. As a building becomes hot or cold, the products will expand and contract. They also come in many different styles and shades to suit almost any building design. Danpal® Facades provide an array of finishes and effects that offer dazzling creative options.

Are translucent facades cost-effective?

Extension Building of Global Standard Technology (GST) Plant

The main business of GST is to manufacture and assemble semiconductor, Icd, medical appliance and electronic device. GST choice the new material for the factory building. Furthermore, the building is designed to present beauty of sculpture and symbolic language to emphasize the company and its environment-friendliness in terms of selecting Danpalon as material of Façade

A distribution oriented line up: Considering the easy access for shipment, the working area is located on the 1st and 2nd floor to facilitate the flow of working. So it enables to do stocking, assembling, testing, and shipping products on the ground floor. Employee parking lot is on the 3rd floor (top floor).

Global Standard Technology

Environment-friendly material for façade, Danpalon: Danpalon, which is a semi-transparent polycarbonate system made of 6 layered panels, can maximize daylighting effect by spreading light through diffused reflection under the daylight and save energy by decreasing the amount of CO2 produced by artificial lighting. With its excellent quality and amount of lights, it doesn’t create shadows inside from the structure as it provides even diffused light instead of direct light so productivity and safety of employees can be maximized. After sunset, the light inside of extension building is spread outside creating the image wall representing GST so it gives symbolism to building on Dongtan industrial complex 6gil as a lighting box.

Communication and connecting spaces: It is planned to connect existing building and extension building by using a bridge as a medium.

External space: Cooperative company area and reception area are separated while exit and entrance are combined to unify them as one building.

Based on our experience in building extension plant of GST, we would like to make a new design guide (Danpalon) for building a new plant considering environment-friendliness, convenient construction, light structure and various lighting by studying interior as well as exterior space design.

External Wall Cladding – What’s important to consider before making any choices?

When you are looking for external wall cladding systems, it is important that your choice complies with all of the relevant building regulations and that it ensures the maintenance of an efficient level of insulation in a building.

Wall CladdingIn the past, wall cladding often did not really have to consider the insulation effects that were seen due to loose regulations, but in recent times this has become a massive issue as people are conferenced about having structures that are energy efficient. If a building is energy efficient, heat can be maximised while energy costs minimised. It’s a win-win situation.

You may want to simply refurbish an existing structure or starting from scratch with the external wall cladding. Whatever the case may be, our ventilated rainscreen system of wall cladding at Danpal can help you achieve all of these goals and then more.

It has been shown that about 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of energy consumption in most developed countries comes from buildings. This highlights the large scope for savings when it come sot energy costs. Our ventilated rainscreen system at Danpal has been designed specifically with this statistic key in the front of the minds of our designers and engineers.

Our system involves the well-respected Danpalon panel that helps to insure that the insulation is protected at all times no matter the weather or extent of impact.

One of the keys to having effective external wall cladding is having an optimal level of natural ventilation. Thanks to the convective motion seen behind our panels, the insulation will be kept dry and will not lose any of its performance benefits over time. This replaces the costs of having to replace damaged or suboptimal panels in the long run.

The system is light and solid at the same time. It is made up of connector bound microcell polycarbonate panels which are 3 times more lightweight than the usual rain screen cladding that is found on the market.

As it is so easy to install, you will be able to meet your project deadlines and even come in before deadlines as a result than if you were using more traditional options.

If you are building in an environment that receives a lot of rainfall and strong winds during the year, water tightness going to be something you are very concerned with when making your selection. Our system has perfect water tightness so this is not an issue you will have to worry about again.

Learn about Danpals external wall cladding

Our external wall cladding solutions offer protection and a strong aesthetic finish to your building’s exterior. Our designs not only look great, they also do the job of keeping your structure secure very well indeed. Wall cladding has to be able to stand up to the elements and keep out wind, rain and anything else that’s thrown at it. Our ventilated Rainscreen System does exactly that. You can find out more about it and its benefits below.

Danpal external wall cladding complies with the relevant building regulation requirements, maintains insulation efficiency while providing an appealing exterior design to new or refurbished buildings. With connections made directly on the support, the external wall cladding does not need additional supporting framed structures. Up to three times lighter than traditional laminated cladding, Danpal external wall cladding uses the trusted Danpalon® connection system and can be installed on all types of supports.

You can find out more about Danpal external wall cladding and its benefits below.

Ventilated Rainscreen System

external wall claddingThe Ventilated Rainscreen System we use is a complete system that incorporates Danpalon panels that help to protect and secure the building structure’s insulation. Because of an air gap, there is a convective motion behind the panels that keeps the insulation dry and efficient. So, with the aid of the Ventilated Rainscreen System, your building and its insulation can become even more environmentally friendly. The choice of designs and colours on offer mean that you can find a solution that looks great too.

Superior Insulation Protection

Insulation protection is the most important thing offered by our external wall cladding. When your insulation is kept protected, it remains free to do its job properly and keep your building as secure as it needs to be. There will be no wasted energy anymore. That’s something that is often the case with buildings that don’t have the right protection for their insulation. Don’t let this become a problem for your building because it doesn’t need to happen. Wasted energy means wasted money, and no one wants to be wasting money unnecessarily.

Perfectly Watertight

Cladding always needs to offer protection from the elements, and the most problematic of these is the rain. If your building is fitted out with cladding that is not 100{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} watertight, you will run into problems before. Luckily, we offer external wall cladding solutions that are completely and perfectly watertight, meaning that leaks or even flooding will never have to concern you as you manage your building. This is allowed by the exclusive double notching of our Ventilated Rainscreen System wall panels. They’re designed to keep water out at all times.

Simply Installation

Simple installation is another thing that’s really important. The necessary connections are made directly onto the support. What this means is that there is never any need for extra supporting structures to be put in place when the external wall cladding is being installed. To put it simply, it makes the installation faster than any of the other wall cladding solutions you will find out there on the market at the moment. Before you know it, the job will be done, and the external wall cladding will be in place.

The Headline Benefits of Our Wall Cladding System

At Danpal, we are focused on providing products that meet all of the building regulations that you may be faced with, giving you products that perform higher than industry standards and are also visually appealing. While this may seem like a lofty goal, our track record speaks for itself.

One of the most popular products we have in our range is the ventilated rain screen system of wall cladding. This meets all of the necessary regulations you need to meet when ensuring that the insulation levels are in line with standards and other regulations.

rainscreen cladding 2Our light but solid wall cladding is achieved thanks to it being connector bound and being made up of the best in microcell polycarbonate panels. It has been shown that this configuration is three times lighter than those other options on the market today.

As these connections are made while having the system on the support, they are very easy and quick to install. There does not need to be any additional framed structures needed when installing them. This saves time, energy and money. What architect doesn’t like hearing that phrase?

Our perfect level of water tightness has been achieved thanks to the double notching of our Cladding panels. This means that even in the worst conditions the permeability of the panels will not be compromised.

One of the main draws to this product is that the system is universal, no matter what sort of structure is in question. We have seen this system used on all types of buildings across the world, from skyscrapers, stadium, centres of excellence, galleries, and so on. This is thanks to the way the system easily connects with the structure.

Another great aspect of the VRS system is the availability of a wide variety of hues and options that make the design options endless. As an architect, you will be in love with the many tweaks or changes you can make with your wall cladding thanks to these options.

There are many different shades to choose from. If you want a sparkling effect, opaque, bright, Bicolour, matt or shiny, the options are many. Your building can be enveloped in the type of light and reflections that you have laid out in your mind’s eye and the plans in front of you with little to no heartache.

The power of rainscreen cladding

Our ventilated rainscreen cladding system allows you to achieve an appealing looking exterior to your structure while still achieving some great performance benefits.

In this day and age, there are a lot of regulations that need to be met for new and existing structures. This could be related to the environmental aspects to a building or just your standard building requirements.

rainscreen claddingThis is why it is much easier utilizing an integrated system that combines all of your needs into one thing, rather than trying to piece different aspects of regulations together from multiple sources.

These days it has been shown that approximately 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the energy consumption that is primarily consumed in developed countries is from buildings. This means that there is a requirement for buildings to do everything they can to minimize the negative outputs they have on the environment.

The key way in which this can be achieved through rainscreen cladding is by utilizing a system that has a high level of thermal insulation, like our VRS system.

Our rainscreen cladding is based on a process of natural ventilation thanks to an air gap that is designed into our VRS system. This allows there to be a constant connective motion permeating behind the panels. This allows the insulation to stay dry and keep its performance benefits at an optimal level long into the future.

This is thanks to the Danpalon panel that is being used. This system is also nice and lightweight, so you will have no trouble having it installed. Having said this, it is still extremely solid and has a high impact on resistance as it is made up of polycarbonate panels which are bound by connector made out of microcell technology.

This is why we can prove our system is three times lighter than rainscreen cladding without compromising on any of the performance aspects of the system.

As the system does not need any form of additional framing structures when installing it, you can save a lot of time, energy and costs by making the connections directly on the support.

If you are concerned about adverse weather conditions negatively affecting your structure’s integrity, thanks to the double notching found in our VRS panels, there is going to be a perfect level of water tightness in the structure.

Finally, the icing on the cake is all of the different creative features you can add into the system to make it as visually appealing as you like, depending on your tastes and preferences.

How are polycarbonate panels so much stronger than other alternatives?

The market for polycarbonate and polycarbonate panels has developed in recent years. Largely down to the fact that people are looking for more environmentally friendly and energy efficient materials to be used on their structures.

If people solely wanted to protect the environment, but the panels were expensive and not energy efficient, these polycarbonate panels would be nowhere near as popular as they are today.

polycarbonate panels All across the world polycarbonate has been replacing the traditional building materials like toughened glass and polyethylene membrane across a wide variety of industries. This is largely down to the fact that they strike the best balance between high impact strength, being lightweight, frame resistance, anti-drop, light transmission and UV protection, all while still looking great from an aesthetic perspective.

Clear polycarbonate is just as translucent as glass, but it is only half the weight which makes it a whole lot easier to transport and to install. Test studies have shown that polycarbonate sheeting and panelling strength is approximately 200 times that of your usual glass and up to 20 times of tempering glass. This is why they are such a great solution for structures that are exposed to a lot of tough weather conditions like storm rain and strong winds.

At Danpal, we have created a top of the line translucent façade system utilising polycarbonate panels to great effect. We have a specially designed rain screen system that is completely waterproof, which helps to preserve the integrity of a surface long into the future.

As polycarbonate is so easy to cut and you have the flexibility to utilise it in many different forms, more and more architects are using it to come up with innovative and highly functional designs for the structures they are working on.

The main area of benefit for many people is that they are top quality insulators. In this day and age, buildings make up about 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the primary energy consumption for most developed nations. This is why insulation is so important in terms of managing energy costs.

Our system protects the insulation from external forces thanks largely to the natural ventilation in the facade as a result of the air gap. This means that there is a constant convective motion occurring behind these panels, which keeps the insulation nice and dry, as well as efficient in the long run.

Danpalon and the importance of thermal insulation

Thermal insulation is now one of the most important variables to consider when selecting the materials to be used on the façade of a building. Have efficient materials like those provided by the Danpalon will ensure that you minimize your energy cost and help do your bit for the environment by lowering your carbon footprint.

There are many products on the market today that claim to be good insulators. Each of them will have their pros and cons, so you need to be fully aware of what specific needs you have for a given project.

danpalonKey factors to consider include the R-values, environmental impact, price, flammability, sound insulation etc.

The key role of thermal insulation is to decrease energy costs by preventing heat loss or gain through the building envelope. Usually this material comes in the form of a substance that has a low thermal conductivity. Usually this will be less than 0.1 W/mK. Their only purpose will be to save on energy and to increase the comfort levels of those building occupants.

The focus on thermal insulation is only going to get bigger. While they have commonly been used in temperate regions, they are looking to become more global as time goes on. More developed countries will have requirements for development and thermal insulation is one of the key requirements of energy efficient and also for the health purposes of the occupants of the structure.

This means that there is always going to be a steady market for these types of materials. The market will not be as large in those climates which are hot and those in tropical regions as natural ventilation is more important than air tightness when it comes to the right strategy for thermal comfort.

This is why our product range at Danpal includes air gaps in our facade systems, as this promotes the natural ventilation of air in a constant motion. This prevents excessive heat gain from the sun. Roof insulation is something that is important in all types of regions, including tropic areas.

In real terms, better thermal insulation is going to provide a lot more comfort to the building occupants. This means there will be more productivity in the workplace as well as better living environments.

As thermal insulation limits any unwanted heat gain or loss through the building envelope, this will naturally decrease the demand for energy whether it is cooling or heating up buildings, which in turn lowers GHG emissions.

How future facade systems will pay a major environmental role

One of the key buzzwords when you are looking at the design of a building in this day and age is sustainability. This is sustainability in terms of environmental impact, energy efficiency, as well as durability.

The owner of a structure wants to get the best bang for their buck in terms of the costs they are going to be paying for energy, as well as meeting and exceeding the environmental requirements that have been set out by the relevant authorities.

facade systemsOne of the more exciting trends in the field of facade systems has been the development of certain facades that have the ability to eat smog.

This is achieved through a treatment of a thin layer of titanium dioxide, which is a liquid or powder that can be applied to a facade system such as ours at Danpal and when the sun strikes this chemically treated surface, the process of oxidization begins of organic matter, meaning that pollutants will be transformed into carbon dioxide and water vapour.

This exciting new development has already been experimented with in certain projects, such as that of the Manuel Gea Gonzalez Hospital located in Mexico City. This is near the top of the list when looking at the most polluted cities in the world.

This is an exciting development and looks set to have a large impact way into the future. What stops us from coating complete cities is the material? This could be a stepping stone for all facade systems having air quality improvement features built in them during the manufacturing process, which could help to transform the environmental impact our buildings are currently having.

When looking at the environment on a global scale, up to 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the energy consumed is by building, so this could go a long way towards decreasing the damage that is being inflicted by these structures.

At Danpal, we have been focused on providing facade systems that are environmentally friendly. By using translucent faces, we are able to achieve a superior light diffusion. This means that not as much energy will have to be consumed when lighting up the interior of a structure.

The high thermal insulation and great R values of our system means that less money needs to be spent cooling and heating up a building, as the facade system naturally takes care of lot of these issues automatically.

Rainscreen cladding – Why more and more people turning to specific?

While it is obvious judging from the name that rainscreen cladding’s main use is to protect the exterior of a structure from damaging weather and to allow for a well-designed path of clearance for any rain water, there are some reasons why you should trump for it over other alternatives.

Rainscreen cladding from market leaders like our team at Danpal have more advanced functions integrated into the design which adds another layer of benefits for the end user.

Rainscreen claddingIf you did not use rainscreen cladding on the exterior of a building, those materials that are porous and have been used in the construction process will be exposed to the negative weather conditions which will greatly accelerate the deterioration process of the structure.

At Danpal, our system also allow for the easy removal of one or more sheets so they can be replaced if any issue occurs, rather than having to strip the entire structure as you may have to do with other materials.

Rainscreen cladding also is very effective at providing strong levels of thermal insulation for the structure while still being cost efficient. You also do not have to sacrifice a lot of valuable floor space in order to have this form of insulation, which is a major negative when you look at alternative options.

These cladding systems are very appealing visually and they give the architect a huge scope for innovation and creativity, as you can be very flexible in the approach taken. The finishes used can be changed and the shapes of the panelling twisted and altered to fit the vision of the chief designer.

With environmental conditions becoming more and more extreme, they have been a large area of focus when it comes to the construction industry. This is why sustainability of wall cladding is vital. While rainscreen cladding helps improve the thermal insulation ad decrease energy costs as a result, rainscreen cladding can also help the sustainability of a structure as it reduces materials wasted and used.

No matter what your budget constraints may be or challenges that you may face with your project, with the flexibility of our rainscreen cladding system at Danpal, no obstacle is too large to overcome. Our team can work closely with you to make your vision to come into reality by providing you with a world class service and top quality products that have been tried and tested on the biggest of stages.

Are dynamic and adaptive facade materials the way of the future?

When it comes to spotting new trends and developments in an industry, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly when a certain trend will start to kick in. This is why there are so many people on Wall Street every day trying to make these predictions, but only a few are ever right at any one time.

There is no doubting that the world of constriction has been moving more towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. The design process involves a lot more variables these days to judge the impact the structure will have on its surrounding environment, as well as looking at ways in which to minimise energy costs.

facade materialsOne of the more exciting developments in the facade materials world is that of facade materials which are adaptive and dynamic. While renewables and other technologies have been becoming increasingly popular, these types of façade materials could be a key development.

In certain areas of the word, most notably in North America, there has been a green revolution and designers have experimented with intelligent and dynamic systems which have a great impact when implemented together with standard technologies. These buildings are able to move, react and adapt to real life changing conditions.

What would you say if a building could naturally react to changing environmental conditions and become optimised for any outcome? Tenants would surely be delighted at having a decreased carbon footprint and greater energy savings and efficiency.

There will also be savings for the building owner in capital and operating costs. This could even be done without having to compromise at all on the visual aspects of the design and may even improve them.

‘Living building’ is becoming closer and closer to becoming a mainstream reality. Daylighting and solar shading used to be fixed systems on the roof or exterior of a building. Now there are possibilities of having them as dynamic and controllable systems that can react and adjust the changing environmental conditions.

Being able to adapt on the go makes logical sense and once the numbers add up, this will go mainstream. There is no doubting the energy savings that can be used through the use of different façade materials, but here still needs to be affordable initial cost prices to make them viable for your standard building owner. At Danpal, we invest heavily in our research and development, so we are constantly looking at improvements and innovation in the field of facade materials.

What does the future hold for polycarbonate panels?

In the past few years, polycarbonate panels have transformed the construction industry. This is thanks to the wide range of features that they brought to the table including ease of installation, energy efficiency and increased design options.

This has made the lives of developers and architects a whole lot easier, as there are more choices to choose from and the overall finish of the structure is closer to what was idealized. While polycarbonate panels may initially be a bit more than the traditional materials that were used when constructing the facade of a building, in the long term they are going to save you money.

polycarbonate panelsThis is why the use of these panels is going to grow and grow into the future. We are moving into a time where energy efficient materials are going to trump everything. Energy costs are set to rise into the future, so having a structure that is as energy efficient as possible is going to be a top priority of all developers and hence designers. This will save you money in the form of energy costs into the future.

With climate change becoming more of an issue, more extreme weather conditions will very likely be experienced across the globe. This means that structures may not be ready to withstand the effects that these conditions will have on them.

Excess rain and wind can cause damage to the facade if subpar materials are used, leading to leaks, structural damage as well as a whole host of other issues. Polycarbonate panels can be easily installed onto a structure, so they are a quick yet effective solution to changing climates. They are resistant to extreme weather conditions and you will not have to be spending heaps of money repairing them.

Currently China is the biggest market when it comes to polycarbonate and this looks set to grow even further into the future. As the Chinese economy develops, more complex designs will be implemented on structures as there will be more money to throw at the construction of buildings, rather than only worrying about the cost of them. This is a trend that will exist throughout the Asia-Pacific region, especially as the wealth of the population increases.

Our range of polycarbonate panels at Danpal have been carefully designed and are constantly being tweaked in order to stay up to date with the latest trends and research. You can’t go wrong with using our products to ensure energy efficiency in your structure.

What the future holds for glazing materials and finishing systems like Danpalon

The benefits of daylight when it comes to the design of structures cannot be underestimated. It helps to generate energy savings, reduces costs in the building process, can potentially increase productivity, is sustainable and enhances the mood of people inside of the structure, to name just a few things.

This is why architects have daylighting as one of their number one priorities in the design process. While there are many skylight makers and manufacturers on the market, none of them quiet have the end product that is like the Danpalon glazing system, which has been built for the future.

danpalonThe climate of our world is ever changing and with that comes the importance of having all aspects of your structure being fool proof when it comes to the various weather conditions that the structure will be exposed to on a daily basis.

You don’t want something that looks great and performs well in the short term, you need something that is sustainable, low maintenance and will retain its appeal even years into the future.

The balance between having glazing materials that are energy efficient, as well as being durable can often be a hard one to find. With construction looking to explode in the coming years in fastly developing countries, especially in areas of Asia like China, there is going to be a much greater demand for these types of materials. Especially as they are becoming more aware of the effects different materials can have on global warming, as well as the money savings they can achieve into the future.

The main aspects of a system that architects will be looking for will be a large thermal mass that can absorb the heat during the day and release it at night, look at different systems to compare the exclusion of solar gain, have systems that are completely air tight so as to exclude external hot air and high insulation levels in order to keep heat gain to a minimum with the building’s fabric.

As temperatures rise, the shading and glazing of a system are going to become vitally important. Shading systems for structures will come to the fore; building materials that are reflective and do not retina heat will be used and powerful cooling systems that are powered by groundwater or domestic scale renewables will become more prevalent.

What does the future hold for roofing materials?

In the last few decades, the types of roofing materials chosen by designers and architects for different projects have changed drastically. As technology has now become so far advanced, there are many more options available to choose from. These include materials like polycarbonate, as well as your more traditional options.

The other big change was the shift in focus towards more energy efficient options to minimize the carbon footprint that is extracted from Mother Nature. Developers want to have environmentally friendly materials, as well as saving money on energy costs in the long run.

Roof insulation has seen its R values almost triple in the last couple of decades and this looks set to continue into the future. With advanced VOC regulations being enacted, there are a lot stricter rules when it comes to coatings, sealants and adhesives that are being used.

roofing materialsOne of the big buzzwords in today’s world is “The Internet of Things.” It seems logical that this phenomenon will move its way to the rooftop, making it a lot easier and effective when integrating rooftop energy into the energy system of the structure as a whole. This means that the roofing materials themselves will play a larger role in how efficient the transfer of thermal energy may be.

Roofs will also become even more durable and resilient. As weather is becoming more volatile and stronger weather conditions have been hitting many buildings, something that has been put down in large part to climate change, there is a growing demand for more resilient roofs. This could mean being more resistant to fires, winds, hail and other adverse conditions. Roof ratings are set to explode even further in the coming years.

Finally, the removal of roofs will become very important, as people will start wanting to reuse these roofing materials when putting on the new roof. This is more environmentally friendly, as well as cost effective if it can be done in the correct manner.

At Danpal, we are always on the cutting edge of new developments and are constantly tweaking and improving existing products to meet with these growing demands. We pride ourselves on having a roofing system that is aesthetically pleasing, as well as being fundamentally sound and energy efficient. Daylight is maximised in the winter, while solar heat will be blocked in the summer, making it a win-win.

How retrofit facade systems can help your ailing structures

In the past, there were a lot of shoddily constructed buildings erected that used poor materials. A lot of the times these materials were sub optimal for the type of structure they were being used on or the region in which it was situated. This would lead to a host of problems down the line, such as dampness, loss of heat, structural stresses and even collapse in extreme cases.

The ability to retrofit certain facade systems has been seen as somewhat of a game changer, as they can be a measure taken which will extend the longevity of a structure before major work has to be completed on it. Danpal has a number of top quality facade systems that are flexible enough that they can be used in this way.

Energy performance is a massive thing these days, both in terms of helping the environment and having people being able to save on their energy costs. If you have one of these poorly built homes or buildings, the heat will be sucked out of the walls and you will have to use tons of expensive heating to get the building somewhat warm.

facade systemsBy having a proper facade system in place, you can benefit from their natural thermal effect, which will create a layer of protection around the structure. This means that cold air will not be able to permeate internally, while internal heating or air conditioning will be able to be retained in an optimal manner inside of the structure. You are getting the best of both worlds.

These retrofit systems will work better in cooler climates than warmer ones, as there are more benefits to be reaped. If you are concerned with the state of one of your structures, this could very well be the most cost effective and efficient route for you.

There are two main types of facade systems that are commonly used today. The more conventional facade systems will be brick cavity walls, rainscreen facade, rainscreen facade that has terracotta cladding, conventional curtain walls and glass fiber reinforced rainscreen facades to name a few.

The other main type is thermally improved and optimised, such as those seen with Danpal. These will be rainscreen facades that have thermal spaces built into them, those that have thermal isolators and curtain walls that have framing which is thermally broken.

The more advanced building facades will have to consider significant deflections and concentrated forces. By knowing and being aware of these structural behaviours, you can better aid the design of the structure as a whole. This also allows you to choose a facade system that is optimal for the case at hand.

By intertwining all of the different variables and factors, you will be able to have an end product that will be aesthetically pleasing while yield results that are efficient and coordinated with one another.

Why Danpal’s Polycarbonate Panels Are the Premier Choice for So Many Architects

There are so many different suppliers of polycarbonate panels around, which makes it hard to narrow down your selection, especially if you are not sure what you to look for.

You want to ensure that the polycarbonate panels been melted at the correct temperature. Depending on the manufacturer, different additives will be use to give it specific properties.

The first thing you should do is list all of your requirements for what you want to achieve with the panels. This includes your budget, functional features – you need and the right aesthetic look for your structure. This is a quick way to narrow down your options.

You will then need to do your research and look both online and in local stores, as well as getting recommendations of trusted peers.

It’s really important to choose a supplier that has put the product through a rigorous quality assurance tests, and holds International standards certificates, such as ISO 9001.

A monumental works that brings the best together

To build a football stadium with a design with forms in the vanguard, allowing for the comfort of its occupants in a safe and sustainable manner, with the best materials, while incorporating the newest in technology for the television broadcasting of matches, is a real architectural challenge.

For Juan Andrés Vergara and Luis Fernández de Ortega, of the VFO Arquitectos office, experienced in this type of monumental building, the BBVA Bancomer Monterrey stadium is their latest achievement in sports architecture.

In a joint venture with the international firm Populous (formerly HOK Sports) and other companies and national and international institutions, they started the design of this project in 2007 with the idea of building a new stadium for the Rayados team and to create a landmark building for the “regiomontana” city, as Monterrey is known.

“The site is right next to the slopes of the Cerro de la Silla, the most important icon of the northern region of the country. We proposed that the stadium roof have an inclination to the south and that a big window open it to the mountain. This way, you’re joining the functional part with the aesthetic and thematic parts, anchoring to its site, so that for people going to a football game, the first thing they’ll say is ‘we are in Monterrey, we are in our stadium, this is our team and we will win’ “, says Juan Andrés Vergara, CEO.

VFO uses in its projects technology that allow them to create more advanced and complex forms, representing major challenges in terms of construction.

“We wanted that this building be a very radical change in the quality of design in Mexico, so that the materials had to stand up to various situations. Due to the origins of the stadium’s company owner, we thought of metal pots and pans; these curved shapes could be achieved with metallic materials while achieving a brightness that reflected the sun, the colors of the vegetation and the hill”, adds Andrés.

The metal structure surrounds the stadium, leaving spaces for air to enter and cool the public in a natural way, and continues over the stands with an overhang of up to 50 meters. To build it, they used Building Information Modeling, BIM, a modeling technology which allows for design the structure and allowing to know exactly the materials, locations and virtually exact amounts needed for construction.

danpalon The last twelve meters of this overhang are covered by a special polycarbonate material, called Danpalon System, which allows a visual transition between parts in light and those in shadow. “It is an extremely important effect because this way people do not strain their vision as the transition is smooth, and the television cameras also benefit as well”.

This material, in the opinion of Andrés Vergara, offers “great resistance and also the level of translucency we need to apply it with this function. It is very easy to install and contributes to protect the environment”. This is the only polycarbonate in Mexico that can guarantee quality and durability over 25 years and more, which is the best choice for this kind of works that represent a large investment and that must maintain their functionality for several decades.

“When choosing materials, we always say that when an investment of 200 million dollars or more is on the line, one cannot give it to someone who is not experienced; we like to experiment, but safely, we like to bet when we’re going to win. And we know we will win because we have all the tools to make things succeed, the limit is always the imagination, but that imagination has to go with a knowledge of which things are achievable and that is what we apply”, asserts Vergara.

In this regard, Luis Fernandez de Ortega adds: “We seek materials that we know will have the expected performance in a particular building, not delude ourselves with the issue of cost. We rely more on an already proven track record and that is why we put our trust in products we are confident will meet those expectations. One thing I always tell our team when they are doing their job, ‘keep in mind that not only you are putting your name on this, we all are, when you place your name out in front it means you’re putting forward a reputation, that forces us to be very careful with the selection of materials and systems, which is why we study those things so much”.

After eight years of work, the stadium was inaugurated a few weeks ago. The result is a building that “will generate a lot of history for sport in Mexico, and will be the trigger of a higher level of design that will elevate the level of dignity of the people”, in the words of Andrés Vergara.

The construction process would have been impossible without the application of the most cutting-edge technologies, using the most advanced materials and the talent and work of human hands and minds.

“Now that we’ve been at the opening of the stadium, we realized that all attendees became one. This is a phenomenon that football does: it coalesces a large group of people into one that moves in one direction, and I believe that’s what a building like this really brings to a city. A building is nothing if it does not have people within it and that’s the great opportunity that this stadium represents, not only for the public, for the team or for the owner, but also for us”, concludes Luis Fernández de Ortega.

Danpalon – Getting your office interior design bang on the money

When it comes to designing the interior of a structure, there are many different variables that need to be accounted for. You can spend months upon months trying to decide what sort of colour schemes you are going to use, what features need to be implemented and deciding how different things work with one another.

It can often be a stressful experience for both the client and the designer, as both of you will have your own thoughts and visions when it comes to the project.

However, there are certain universal principles that need to be addressed when it comes to interior design.

At Danpalon, the team has had a lot of experience working with both parties on providing a fantastic end product, so we have the knowledge of what tends to usually work and what doesn’t.

There’s no such thing as too much space or light

It is not something you should be complaining about if you are faced with one of these “problems.”

If you are working on an office for example, it is important to have as much natural light as possible. Office workers spend the majority of their day indoors. Studies have shown how a lack of natural light can lead to poor levels of productivity and mood levels.

There are many ways you can maximize natural light, such as knocking down interior walls and replacing them with glass walls in private offices and have a more open planned desk layout as opposed to the usual cubicles.

Have break spaces

danpalonWhile this is somewhere workers can eat their lunch, it is also a great way to break away from their desk and to think more creatively about projects they are working on. These casual areas will help workers to relax, as well as providing a forum to discuss thoughts and ideas.

Ensure that neatness is a priority

A messy office often means a messy brain. When you see clutter and everything packed tightly together, it can restrict you both mentally and physically. By having neat finishes on the interior fittings, as well as having certain tidiness policies in place in the office, the end goal can be achieved.

The Danpalon interior system

When you are creating this environment for an office, it is important that you have many different options to choose from when it comes to the interior.

At Danpalon, our special interior system allows you to explore new aesthetic possibilities. You can transform walls, ceilings and partitions with radiant sculptural effects in order to craft a unique ambiance. You can let your creativity run wild.

The Danpalon interior system allows you to play around with different levels of light and shade, as you can easily adjust the louvres in order to create your desired balance.

The system also gives you both strength and translucency thanks to the reduced spacing that exists between the panel ribs. Finally, there are so many different finishes and colours to choose from that you can bring the picture in your head into reality.

Creative ideas to design a building with facade systems

When it comes to designing a building, the final finishing touch that gives it a polished and smart appearance is the type of facade systems that is chosen.

The structure of the building has its role, but the facade is the decoration which gives life to the building and is the prime ethical component which adds that charm.

This is why you should not rush the decision making process. Some designers have their pre-determined facade decided for all projects they work on and are fairly inflexible when it comes to changing things up.

It is important that designers think about a horses for courses scenario. Certain types of facade will suit certain types of buildings, while some facades will look absolutely disastrous on them. This is why you need to keep in mind a few rudimentary variables and remarks when conducting the selection process.

Be creative

Don’t be stood in the same old rigid thought process project after project. Instead, get your creative juices flowing. This is highly likely the reason why you got into design in the first place, you enjoyed the creative and imagination aspect of the design process and see the image in your head come to life in front of your eyes.

Understand the huge role light plays in your selection
facade_system2As a designer, you will be well aware of the importance of natural light. The pattern of light is hugely important when it comes to the facade of a building.

You need to be aware at what sort of angles the sunlight will be hitting the building at different times of the day and adjust for that. By factoring this into your calculations, you will also be able to instantly improve the interior quality when it comes to natural light.

Horses for courses

When it comes to choosing a facade, don’t just go for the one that is currently in trend just for the sake of it. Make sure that you take your time fitting the style of the building with the right facade. You don’t want one aspect of the building spoiling everything else.

You also want to ensure that the type of facade you are using is appropriate for the climate in the region. If the building is located in a poorer climate where there’s a lot of rain and wind, there will be different requirements compared to if it was a sunnier climate.

Danpal and their selection of facade systems

Whatever your needs are when it comes to facade systems, Danpal can cater for them. It doesn’t matter what sort of structure you are building, the right design is out there for you.

Transparent facades are really the going trend these days. The Danpal framed facade is one of the most popular options being used as it offers great weather protection, has high impact resistance and is transparent. All of these systems allow for a great transfer of light and also have optimal thermal dynamics.

Choosing the right facade materials for housing design projects

If you are designing housing units, there is usually a certain amount of restriction placed upon you when it comes to expressing yourself creatively. Usually, cost will play a significant role in what sort of design work you can do and features that you can add. By carefully choosing the facade materials, you are able to transform even the most boring and normal looking house into something that has style and substance to it. It is all about finding that right balance when it comes to the key features.

The choice of style

Perhaps the most important part of choosing the facade is deciding what style you are going to use. There are so many different variations and styles catered for in the market today that it can be hard to nail down one choice.

You want to give the housing some personality and a unique style that will make it appealing to the home owner. Is your preference more towards minimalist, traditional, contemporary or modern styles? The list goes on.

You need to factor in what sort of look will suit the surroundings and general location of where the homes are going to be.

facade materialWhat are your preferred materials?

Every designer will have certain materials that they like to use over others. You want to use materials that are going to stand out. You can find inspiration by driving around other housing estates in the area and seeing what works well, as well as what doesn’t.

This allows you to learn from other people’s mistakes and failures, as well as seeing the image in your head somewhat brought to life.

Which colours are representative of your design?

You want to choose colours for the facade that are easy to manage (i.e. easy to clean), as well as tying in with the design of the rest of the house and developing an aesthetically stylish finish.

You can even use different shades of the same colour to give off a layering effect that has some depth to it or you could go for a bold look that contrasts different darks and light colours along with varying textures.

Don’t forget about landscape and lighting

In order to complete the look of a house, it has to fit in with its surroundings. You can have the most beautifully designed house in the world, but if it doesn’t fit in, then it will not look right. You can utilise things like columns, feature lighting and brick stacks to make the houses stand out.

Danpal and their wide range of facade materials

Danpal has a variety of different facades that have different facade materials being used. Whatever you are looking for, the team at Danpal can cater for your needs.

There are so many different textures, colours, and iterations to choose from, you will be sure to find something that fits your eye and the project at hand. What is great about their facade options is that they are lightweight, while still being very resistant to outside forces, meaning that they will last a lifetime.

Advice to keep in mind when working with polycarbonate panels

When it comes to choosing the right plastic material for your task at hand, look no further than polycarbonate panels. This material is pretty much unbreakable and usually come in two different iterations; as a

  • multiwall polycarbonate which is a structured sheet that has air chambers which are hollow

Or

  •  solid polycarbonate which is clear, flat sheeting that has the appearance of glass

Both of these polycarbonate panels have their own distinct advantages and it often comes down to which is more aesthetically pleasing for the project at hand rather than the functionality of the panels coming into play.

Does this type of panelling scratch?

While plastic and glass panelling is liable to scratching, the polycarbonate surface is a material that has been hardened to withstand high levels of resistant.

If a piece of glass is scratched, the glass breaks away in tiny shards and the scratch is not very visible to the human eye. Alternatively, when plastic panelling is scratched, the fragments don’t break away, they move to another location which leaves a visible indentation that is raised on the surface.

This sort of effect needs to be taken into consideration when you are deciding to use plastic sheeting.

On the other hand, it is a lot harder to cause cracks or breaks in the polycarbonate panels as even though it is half the weight of glass, it is actually more than 200 times stronger than glass.

It is also flexible while maintaining strength levels and rigidity. This is why polycarbonate panels are often used as a guard in moving machinery parts, farming machinery wind shields and in security screens.

Does polycarbonate panelling bend?

This type of panelling does bend, which gives you a lot more flexibility when it comes to the design of the project at hand. Larger sheets will have a bend with a greater radius and are well fitted for arching rooves. The greater the thickness and the smaller in size a panel are, the harder it will be to bend.

The advantages of Danpal polycarbonate panels

polycarbonate-panel2At Danpal, there are a number of different systems that utilise polycarbonate panels.

One such example is the ventilated rain system which gives a structure an aesthetically pleasing exterior while also efficiently insulating the structure from any damage that may be caused by adverse weather conditions.

Thanks to the air gap, there is a lot of natural ventilation which will allow the insulation to stay dry and perform effectively long into the future.

It is said that approximately 40{5b578bc8adcb4430178b10faf0e9aa5adf0d58c8ca73fed93934f78c0e900111} of the primary energy consumption comes from the building itself, which is why the Danpal system is so effective when it comes to saving on energy costs.

This extra form of protection is the perfect type of insulation for the task at hand. Best of all, it is quick and easy to install, as well as there being so much choice when it comes to design and the colour of the panelling.
